Ball and band for Gym Style workouts

I have been holding off on ordering GS BSB, CH, Legs and Core because I don't want to buy the ball and band.

But I'd love to have these DVDs. Cathe and everyone, is it possible to do these workouts without these ball and band? Have any of you done these workouts without them? How do you modify? Is it as effective?

And do most of you have a step? I have a Firm tall box that I use all the time. I lie down on the mat instead of on a bench. I don't do step exercise. Is it time for me to purchase a step (the one on Cathe's site) for weight workouts?

If you want my advice, I woudl get all the equipment that you listed. You only have to buy it once and then you are set! But if you can't buy the high step, ball and band at the very least. They are very wise investments and that $100 or so will make all the difference! Then later you can add the traditional step.

You can do some of the workouts without the ball. Cathe shows modifications using the step for those that don't have a ball in most, I think. You can also go without the band in some of the workouts. For that, Butts & Gutts is a good one b/c only uses the band for one exercise (firewalkers).

You don't have to use the band in the Gym Styles upper body you could skip over that section or do the dumbbell exercise that was previous. As the band usage in the upper body is extra bonus burts that Cathe has added to intensify. She even tells you that you can skip that section. Even if you skip the band exercise the upper body workout is intense just with the weights.
