Bad ankles

Hi Cathy And everyone,
I do aerobics 6 days a week.Usually cathes longer tapes. But my ankles usually get bad when I need to change my sneakers. This time that is not the problem cause I just bought a new pair for running and a pair for aerobics.
In the last week my ankles have been bothering me and the arch of my left foot.I just started doing interval max a couple of more times in the run of a week.Trying to lose another 5 pounds..thought that workout might help.
Plus we just bought a new home and my husband has moved me in the laundry room where there is concrete floor but then wood over it.HE thinks that I work out to much...because now that the snow is gone I have started running again. But i think that it is the flooring...plus probably all the interval jumping.
What do you guys think? Am I working out to much or can I blame my husband? I workout (cardio)45 minutes most days and somedays I will go for a jog and aerobics.Should I take a break, slow it down a little...or should i move back out into the living room where the carpet is???
Thanks for any advice,
Lori

Lori:

I am having exactly the same problems as you and it is causing me distress too. I think this is your body telling you that this is too much high impact cardio. Why not swap a couple of days cardio for some weights work, that way you are still working your body, in a way that will actually help your cardio workouts with greater endurance and energy, but you are taking the impact off those ankles. Swop a high impact for a power walk one day or a low impact dance routine, a cycle or a swim. Concrete is terrible. Get back to the carpet if you can. So what if it wears out, that's what it is for! I had problems with the arch of my left foot also and I bough a great pair of sorbothane liners for my Rykas. They were pricey ($30 odd) but definitely worth it. Take your new sneakers to a reputable sports store, not just a popular mall version because those popular guys do not know their products, believe me, and try out some shock absorbing liners. In a good sports store, you can do this and jump about the store to practice a few of your routine moves and see how they feel. I did this. It's OK!

Hope some of this helps, and I deeply sympathize.
