Back again - need some advice.

Hi everybody:

I've been away from the website for a while - life just got too busy and then I got the Influenza Type A. Well, I'm back and ready to roll! I've missed all of you and Cathe especially. I need some help, though, and I KNOW this forum will give it to me. :)

I have all of Cathe's vids, but the new series (I'm saving for it, though).

I have been trying to get back into shape from my hiatus and having trouble with energy, endurance and motivation. I teach a step aerobics class once a week and try to exercise on my own the rest of the time, but for some reason when I am by myself my energy is GONE. I've never had that probem. I've always been so excited to workout and with Cathe, but I am so out of breath so quick on my own, yet when I teach I'm just fine the whole time.

Is this a mind game or what!?!?!? Please give me a kick in the butt and some good advice to get me moving and groovin'. :)

Thanks in advance,
~Marcia~

Hey Marcia,

To answer you question, I have a question...

How long since you have recovered from the flu?

It can take literally a couple of months (8 to 10 weeks) to fully recover from the flu.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Take it easy & ease back into working out.

I have tried to tell myself that if I do 15 minutes (including the warm up), I can quit after that. Sometimes I do just that, quit. Most of the time I'm able to get a longer, better workout than I expected.

Hope that helps you a little.

Hi - I was "officially" over the flu and feeling like myself on February 5th. I couldn't seem to get over that "hazy" feeling that the medication gave me. Then I got the stomach flu on the 4th and that must've cleaned me of just about anything inside and I felt better. :)

I've been feeling great ever since, except for a cracked rib that I got from coughing so hard with the influenza A. BOY - I'm a messed up piece of work, huh!?!?

Marcia, welcome back! First of all you may just want to take it easy a bit for now. do you have any other videos that you can do while you're not feeling like yourself just yet? I keep a few around just so that if I dont' feel like I can make it through Cathe I have them as an option.
I know that my mind can play tricks on me especially with my history of asthma. I can normally run about 2 miles right now, during the summer I was up to 4. But if I'm feeling stressed, my throat constricts and I feel like I'm having an asthma attack after about 3 min of running. So, I have now realized that if I'm not feeling relaxed enough to run I have to do something else, that maybe isn't quite as intense, like walk. It's strange that my mind will do this to me, but it does seem to be a mind trick.
I hope that this helps. And I hope that you get back to your normal self quickly!

Kathy
