b-day bbq overkill

YUCK!!!!! I can't even begin to tell you how much i ate! Chips and spinach dip, hamburger, potatoe salad, baked beans, cake and ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, apple chips. So needless to say i ate probably close to 3000cals today. Even though i was full i just kept stuffing it in since it was my b-day. And on top of it all, i have a head cold and feel terrible from that.
You know what i'm thinking? That working out makes me eat. I think back to when i had my surgery. I didn't workout for 4 whole weeks. B/c of that i was so much more aware of how much i was eating and i wasn't as hungry b/c there wasn't such a caloric deficit. I think that i should cut back on the intensity of my workouts. I know moving your body is healthy so i'm not talking about cutting it out completely but i think that the more i exercise the more i think i can stuff my face and it just doesn't work that way. so we shall see. if i'm feeling this yucky i will put the plan into action for the next week since i'll be sick anyway.
i seem to keep coming back to talking about lessening my workouts or taking a break so i just need to do it (sorry if my posts are tedious and repeating)

Hi Kariev, I have those days, too. I'm right there with ya concerning the workouts. When I broke my toe and took 4 weeks off my appetite was totally gone and I lost 6 lbs easy, now that I'm back to working out I gained it all back. I'm thinking the intense workouts make me hungrier or it could be the artifical sweetners in my protein powder which is the only place I still consume them, I'm cutting thsoe out and seeing what happens. I plan on doing circuits, full body and 2 day splits until STS comes out. Good luck.

Kariev - just think of it this way - you celebrated your birthday with people who love you. Looking back, you won't remember the calories or how full you felt, but you will remember that you had an amazing birthday and probably a lot of fun, regardless of feeling so stuffed! We all do it sometimes, and we all regret it. So to you I say, Happy Birthday :)

Adina - Bluebonnet makes a protein powder (Whey of Life) without artificial sweeteners. I get it at Whole Foods. It doesn't have as much protein, but I would prefer this to the crap that is in some. I have to eat during the day anyway so I make smart choices - greek yogurt that has a ton of protein already, to which I add walnuts. I eat bread that has a lot of fiber and protein, etc. I had gone off drinking diet cokes and during the hurricane Ike, I just wanted a cold diet coke. Yummo at the time. Then I wanted another a couple of days later, and then another. Boy, did I feel icky. Now I am back off of them! Artificial sweeteners may not bother some, but I think a lot of people are sensitive to them whether it be through weight gain, bloating, feeling bad, whatever.

Kariev,

Don't do anything too quickly. It could mean you just need a week off from exercising is all. All the processed foods you ate are addictive and will give you a feeling of being hungry, headaches all the symptoms you talked about. Try to eat more fresh foods most of the time. I bet you'll get a different reaction.

Are you eating enough? If you are eating less then 1200 a day, then for sure you are not eating enough. Some people, especially if they workout hard eat much more than 1200 calories. They also eat fresh balanced foods to accommodate their bodies and 4-6 small meals a day.

Indulging in various/sinful foods is OK every now and then. :p

I hope you enjoyed your birthday. That was a time to enjoy yourself. Hope you and your family and friends had a great time. It sounds like you did.

Try to listen to your body,

Janie

Think of it this way - 3000 cals is only 1 lb ! If you maintain your standard food intake from here on out and workout a little extra it will be gone in no time.

Also drinks lots of water and eat fresh fruits and veggies. You'll feel better and that one day of indulgence won't set you back at all.
