Avia sizing?

Hi, everyone--

I just went to aviaselect.com to order the 672s that Cathe wears in Kick Max. According to their sizing guidelines, I'd wear a size 5.5. I normally wear a size 6 shoe, and in sneakers I'm almost always a 6.5. I NEVER wear a 5.5, so I was really surprised that that's what my foot measured out to be using their measuring method.

Has anyone ordered Avias recently? I used to wear them but haven't in several years. I really want to get these sneakers, but I'm afraid of ordering them online and getting the wrong size, and I can't find them in any of my local sporting goods stores.

If anyone has gotten them, did you order your regular shoe size? Go up or down half a size?

I haven't work Avias for years, but when I did, they were true to size. I usually take a size 9, and I wore a size 9 Avia shoe.

I usually wear a six in regular shoes, a 6.5 in New Balance running shoes and that's what I got in the Avias...the 6.5 and they fit great. HTH

I've worn several different Avia shoes, and I've always bought them in my regular shoe size. I find that Avia is one of the only brands (for me anyway) where my regular shoesize fits just right.

Hi Marie! I guess I'm the odd man out here. I just bought the black Avias and ordered them a 1/2 size larger than my "street shoes" as I usually do with athletic shoes. They're perfect. I also just got Ryka Enlights and Rhythm II's from onlineshoes.com's sale, and both of them are a 1/2 size up and perfect, too. I do feel that the Avias, if anything, run slightly shorter (on me, at least) than the Rykas.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Sounds like some people need the extra half-size and some don't--figures!!:p I'm thinking I might have an old pair at home; if I can find them, maybe I'll check the size on those and order accordingly.....thanks again!

I am just like KathyS. I normally wear a 7 in street shoes. I told the Avia Customer Service guy I wear between a 7 & 7 1/2 in most fitness shoes and he recommended the 7 1/2's in the kickbox style Cathe wears and they fit perfect.(I have to order 7 & a half-8's in Rykas.) Good Luck!

Hi, I ordered the black Avias that Cathe is wearing in Kick Max. I usually wear a 7 or 1 1/2, so the guy advised I order the larger size. For me, they are a little too big -- the toe area poofs up with the extra space. I think they run wide. If I were to do it again, I'd order 7.
 
Debbie, you sound just like me; I always wear a 6 in street shoes but just about always wear a 6.5 in sneakers. I found a pair of old Avias I had worn years ago (yes, I am a complete pack-rat!), and they were a size 6. I tried them on, and they felt too snug. I think I'm going to try the 6.5 and hope for the best. The thing that's confusing me is their size guide (you put your foot on a piece of paper and mark the paper at your heel and longest toe. Then you measure the distance between the two marks. When I do this, it says I should be a 5.5! I've haven't been that since I was a teenager! I'm going to try the 6.5...it sounds like they have a good return policy, so I guess the only thing I have to lose is the shipping charges.

After all this, I just went back to aviaselect.com, and the only sizes they have available are 9 and 10--ugh!!!x( I'll have to search some other sites......more online shopping, oh well!:)

Writer, I agree...they DO run wide and I have wide feet. Marie, I did the sizing with the piece of paper too and it said I wore a much smaller size then I got. Guess their sizing chart doesn't work for all their shoes. Good Luck finding them. Sorry they are sold out.
