Does anyone know this? For those that get comped for gas, what do you get?

I may be starting a new PT job that invloves alot of local travel, but I'm not sure what to ask/expect to get reimbursed. I haven't been in the work world for YEARS! (I'm in the MD/DC area, if that matters.)

I use the IRS rate, 55 cents per mile:

And I ALWAYS attach this to my reimbursement requests. ;)

This is the rate and is the rate we reimbures our employees.

However, an employer is not required to reimburse you for business related travel. Of course, it behooves them to since they should want to keep their employees happy.

If your employer doesn't reimburse you the mileage, you may deduct it from your personal income taxes.

I'm not sure of all the ins and outs of this (I'm an accountant but not a tax accountant) but I believe these are the basics.

My company gives us .50/mile. Lower than the IRS rate, but we are encouraged to rent cars when we have longer drive trips... cheaper in the long run.
