August Road Trippers Check-In Tuesday 6/24

Liann

Cathlete
Just starting us off. Now that we've introduced ourselves, anyone interested in a daily check-in? Anyone doing anything special to get ready for the RT? I know I need to start working on my big girl push ups again!

Sounds like a great idea to me to have a daily check-in! I think I need to join you, Liann, in working on those big girl push-ups! :)

I've also been so worried about being able to do so many workouts over the weekend, but I've heard from a few people that Cathe *does* take it a little easier on us, right?! ;-)

Hi everyone! Love the idea of a daily check-in...thanks Liann!

Leanne - I worried about the same thing last year. Beth is right, you will be fine. The classes were spaced out pretty well on Saturday. You should have plenty of time to recover. And everyone's energy is really contagious, it's amazing!!

I have to admit that as of last week, I was thinking of cancelling my registration. I know, I know...CRAZY! Then I did LIC on Friday and LIS on Sunday. Cathe tought some of the LIS moves at the RT last year so I was all pumped up again.

Are we working on big girl push-ups prior to the RT? Me no like big girl push-ups. Last time I tried, I could do 6. Or maybe it was 4? Can't remember, that's how long it's been.. I'll join the club though!

I also need to work on my big girl push ups. I can do lots of the bent knee ones but there is some weakness somewhere in my body that causes me to really struggle with the straight leg ones. Right now I am doing the upper body weights premixes from 4DS (the one were the chest and back are split up onto two separate days), doing B&Gs Leg Blast premix once a week and running three days a week. I will probably do an occasional step and kickbox workout when it gets closer to the RT to keep myself in practice but I am not really doing anything special to prepare for the RT.

Hey ladies!! Today I did IMAX2 in preparation for the RT }( }( Really what I need to pull out is B&Gs( Jacque you are smart for doing this one )!! If she's doing a lower body w/o then you know it's gonna be enduranced based and I suck (sorry for the language) at lower body endurance!!

I don't worry about big girl pushups so much. Not that I can do them endlessly or anything, but it just doesn't bother me if I have to drop to my knees.

Leanne, just be prepared to be walking funny come Sunday morning. Ask Liann (aka Amber) :+ Or was that Beth? I think it was Liann,...

Oh and Melissa, if you even think about cancelling again I will show up at your house ;)

Catherine - It was sooo me!!! I was waddling like a duck on Sunday morning! In fact, I almost didn't get out of bed. As soon as I flexed the first muscle to sit up in bed, I knew there was going to be some major pain! ;) It was the kickboxing that killed me. I never really did it much before the RT and boy does that hit every muscle!!!

Melissa - Don't you dare consider canceling again!!! tsk, tsk...

Hi Roomie!!!

Leanne - There is something about the live classes that helps you get through workouts you might not be able to make it through at home. I know that personally I am the queen of not getting through a whole workout without collapsing on the ground for a break here and there. Somehow, I managed to survive all of the classes though. Cathe does give frequent water breaks and I must have gone through 3 water bottles in each class! If you get really tired too, you can always pull the "taking pictures for memories" break and get a breather in. ;)

Sounds like we are all going to be working on our big girl push-ups (minus Catherine who is superwoman and has arms of steel). Last year I had myself doing up to 5 sets of 15 every other day. At the moment, I MIGHT be able to get through 10 total. Pretty sad. It's amazing how fast you can work up the endurance on push-ups though if you keep with it. My first mini-goal is 2 sets of 10. I should be able to eek that out this week. ;)

Liann, let me repeat: I do not have a problem with dropping to my knees on pushup and that is why I am not worried about it :+ I do 4ds upper body once a week and I guess it helps with pushups some. But endurance is not my thing. I have lactic acid intolerance- kinda like lactose intolerance ;)

I agree with the energy in the class getting you through it. It was awesome to hear all of those feet hitting the step together!! I paced myself during the workouts so not to tire out.

Oh, and I was pretty darn sore come Sunday morning too. IIRC I even had upper body doms from the band work and pushup we did }( But quads were sore to touch. Probably from those walking lunges }(

OK, I am getting super excited!!!!
