August losing the fat

Hi Ladies,

Yesterday ended up being a rest day. I prefer to take my rest days when they fall during the work week. I don't schedule rest days, but usually end up with a weekday rest day due to work schedule or over sleeping.

This morning was my "long" run for the week, it was 5 miles. Since I'm following the Novice program there is plenty of time for weights. My longest run before the race is 10 miles. In the past I used the intermediate program that required more mileage. Since I haven't ran steadily for many years, the novice program will work great for me.

My run was followed up with BS CSB, Core #1 and 200-30# kb swings. Now it's time for breakfast and errands!

Sue-nice job with Xtrain! Just curious, do not like doing cardio? I love cardio but will never give up weight training. I'm changing my breakfasts this week. Normally I have 1/3C oatmeal (which I eat cold like cereal), with 1 scoop protein powder, 1tbs chia seeds, 1tbs flax meal, cinnamon, 1 C mixed berries and 1 C almond/coconut milk. This week I'm going to make baked eggs/egg whites with veggies in a muffin tin...and probably still have just oatmeal....still trying to find a healthy carb to go with my eggs.

Tina-Congrats on tackling and succeeding Mt. Washington!:D I love that you call kayaking a "relaxing paddle"!;) Enjoy your circuits...the time just flies during those workouts!

Hi ladies! I have a bit of catching up... Saturday was bis/tris, yesterday legs + a walk/run and today was burn set chest, shoulders & back. I guess I only did the xtrain legs premixes before, did the whole thing yesterday and what a great workout. I can really feel it today on my inner & outer thighs and glutes.

Tina I like your quadzillas :). That's the part of my legs that has the least fat so I like seeing them pop when they get worked hard. Can't wait to see pics from your vacation :)

Diana nice workout yesterday :). I've never done any KB workouts, I'm a breaker so adding KB to my repertoire would be asking for trouble. I'm not big on cardio, I get winded pretty easily, I have quite a way to go to build up my endurance. Weights, while challenging, are a lot easier for me. Have you made the eggs/veggies in a muffin tin yet? I've seen them on pinterest and am curious if they actually taste good.

I can't believe it's only Monday, feels like a long week already!

Good morning Girl's. I'm finally recovered from our hike, we can all climb the stairs normally again. Sunday was a long, s-l-o-w bike ride and yesterday was High Reps. I'm thinking I need to add back in some step workouts, I've been ignoring them most of the summer. Imax's for the next few weeks. I like them all, but #1 is my favorite.

Sue, I almost did Burn Sets yesterday. I'm itching to start some Xtrain again. I might do a Meso 1, Xtrain, GS rotation until the new DVD's arrive. After I finish the weeks circuit plan.

Diana, nice job on the milage. To come home and add on more workouts sounds intense! How are those baked egg whites?

Have a great Tuesday. :)

Yesterday was Imax 2 and a very short bike ride. I had another mishap on my good bike again, a total sidewall blowout on my front tire. Good thing I was only a few mile from home when it happened. This morning was BM2, boot camp premix. When the squats are repeated a second time, I sub with some firewalkers. I really love that premix, even my forearms were dripping with sweat. : )

I hope you're both doing well. It's scortching hot here.

Hi ladies :). I took an unscheduled rest day yesterday, my sister had a bad day & needed some commiserating :). So burn set bis/tris today. Have I mentioned how much I like burn sets? Also I still have DOMS from Sunday legs. I have legs again tomorrow, premix #2.

Tina great view from the top of that mountain! You should definitely fit in some xtrain, I'm enjoying this rotation so far. Sorry to hear about your bike, maybe your backup is now your "good" bike :). I would never sub squats with something else, they are my favorite LB exercise. Lunges on the other hand, I wish they didn't exist :)

Diana how's your week going? Running well?

TTFN :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm keeping up with my running rotation and 100 kb swings each day. Yesterday called for a 2 mile run or cross train...so I did Tabatacise, core #2, and 100- 25# single arm swings. I've really been missing my Cathe w/o's so I'm trying to get in Burn Sets and some Cathe cardio.

The baked eggs/egg whites are super easy and I've been making them off and on for a while. I flash freeze them and take two out each night and put them in the refrigerator. then I just pop them in the microwave....super easy!

WW is working for me...I'm down a total of 12.2#s, in 14 weeks. It's a very slow process, but I'm happy the scale is moving in the right direction!

Tina-oh no, a flat. I carry tools, tube and co2 in my seatpack, but I'm not sure I could change the flat. Fortunately I've never had a flat. Love the picture from the top, very cool!:) I think we have the same taste as far as Cathe cardio goes, love all the circuits, BM2 Cardio Blast is one of my favorite premixes, Imax's..well Imax 3 is my favorite.

Sue-glad you were able to commiserate with your sister. My younger sister lives nearby and we try to get together when we can. The eggs are super easy and you just add whatever veggies you like. I don't use cheese in mine (I don't eat dairy)but do add a about a 1/4 C of green chile just for a little spice. Squats are my favorite too! I love doing them at the rec ctr where I can go much heaver than at home (115#s).

School started yesterday so I'm waiting a little longer to start my run, until after the high school starts since I run by there on my route. If I find there are too many kids then I will have to change my route.

Yesterday was a day off. This morning was Dril Max and B&G stability ball abs. I'm going to have "I like the way you move, woohoo" running through my head all day. I've decided that my rotation will be two weeks of circuit/drill workouts, followed by two weeks of heavy weight workouts. I'll just keep rotating through until the new workouts arrive. I'm really loving the circuit workouts this week. :D

Diana, congratulations on your continued weight loss. That's fantastic! : )

BBL : )

Hi ladies! Yesterday was xtrain legs, 2nd premix with the bonus barre -ouch! Today I did chest/shoulders/back and took a 3 mile walk to try and work out my DOMS. This week I wore a pair of shorts that wouldn't go over my thighs last summer, yay!

Congrats on your weight loss Diana! That's some solid progress :). Are you below your "normal" weight now? Nice squat weight!

Nice job on drillmax Tina, what a fun workout :).

I'm so glad it's the weekend, this week took forever!

Checking in with xtrain burn set bis & tris, core 1 (sloppily) and one breathless tabata :). I hope you're both having a wonderful weekend!

Hi Ladies,

Friday ended up being an unscheduled rest day. I had an early morning meeting and then worked the rest of the day from home. If I don't get my workout done first thing, well it just doesn't happen.

Yesterday I did Cardio Leg Blast/Core 2, GS BSB, and 100 kb swings! Then I went out and mowed the lawn. I was beat. Today is a 5 mile run and GS C&T, 100 swings, and abs if I can do them.;)

Sue-congrats on the thinner thighs!!! Burn Sets are awesome....and you tacked on a tabata too....nice!! I'm just 2lbs below my normal weight. I'm back to the same weight I was at last year at this time. Now I just have to stick with it and lose these 16 more lbs. It's a lot of work for sure.

Tina-sounds like you have your schedule all worked out. Circuits are fun cuz the time just seems to fly by. Have you heard when they plan on shipping the new discs? I perused the site and the FB fan page but haven't seen anything yet.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! bbl

We had two great bike rides this weekend, the weather has been fantastic! Today will be HSC, which I haven't done in a very long time. It hit me this morning how many workout options we have thanks to all of Cathe's hard work. I had my "Oh my God, I love that woman" moment today.

I can't wait to start some Xtrain workouts next week, you both have put that bug in the back of my brain. You both are rockin' the workouts lately!
: )

Hi ladies :). Yesterday was xtrain legs + bonus barre, today burn set chest, back & shoulders. I'm liking this rotation and a little surprised that I'm keeping up with it :).

Diana you're doing so well on your weight loss, those last 16 lbs don't stand a chance :). Nice job on cardio leg blast, I wish that were in my rotation but it's 4 weeks of just legs.

Glad to hear your weather is good for some rides Tina :). I've gotten outside a couple times after dark, daytime is still too hot for outdoor activity. do you have a schedule for next week or will you be winging it? is school back in session for you?

be back tomorrow :)

Yesterday was a short bike ride and this morning will be the ME/BC combo premix. This is the last week of summer, next week I start back to work and homeschooling. It's been one of the best summer seasons ever!

BBL :)

Hi ladies,

hhmmmm, how sad is this...I can't remember what I did on Monday. Yesterday was a 4 mile run, 200 kb swings, and abs. This morning will be a short cardio or circuit. I weighed at home and my weight is down a bit. Hope it is reflected on the WW scale today.

I was up at 4:30am to drop my son off at the High School. The football team is traveling to Florida today. He is super excited. They get to play at the ESPN Sports Complex and they will be televising the games. They have few days to hang out at the Disney Parks with their teammates. I'm hoping there is no drama. Probably won't be as much since it's a bunch of guys and not girls. :D They get back Sunday night.

Have either of you gone to a Cathe Road Trip? I've been to 2 and they are so much fun. I roomed with another Cathlete on these forums in San Diego, and met one of my other check-in buddies in NJ. Cathe is so down to earth...we all love her.:)

Tina-booh for the end of summer, but glad is was a great one for you!! I haven't been on my bike since my triathlon. Not sure if my training partner is up for the one in September. My granddaughters start kindergarten next week. They are so excited to be big girls and go to school everyday! Is it hard to homeschool...along the lines of maintaining a daily schedule? Frankly, I'm not that smart. I do a have BS in Computer Information Systems but my kids learn/ed in HS what I learned in college. It's amazing.

Sue-how are you doing with the nutrition program you are following? I'm managing to stick with my running rotation and add weights in a few times per week. Just hitting each body part once/wk. I wish it was more, but it's not.

hi ladies! yesterday was xtrain bis/tris, today xtrain legs, a 45 minute premix that skips the standing portion and includes bonus barre. it was challenging, but so much easier without the standing section. tomorrow will be a rest day, I may do yoga relax.

Tina I'm glad you had a great summer, I'm ready for fall! I bet you rocked that combo today :)

Diana I haven't been to a road trip. I sweat in a very unfortunate pattern and it's embarrassing to work out in public. I'm feeling good about my nutrition plan, will measure on the 1st to see if there's any progress. Exciting times for your son, I hope you're not too nervous while he's gone!

Yesterday was xtrain back/shoulders/chest. Today was bis/tris + house max. I'm a little brain dead right now so will save personals for tomorrow :). I hope you're both well!

Hi Ladies, I hope you're both enjoying the long weekend. DH and I took a nice bike ride on Friday and did MM together this morning. The weather is a bit iffy for the next few days, so we may not be able to squeeze in more miles. I'm looking forward to some Xtrain weight work this coming week. : )

Sue, your sweat comment had me giggling. I totally understand where you're coming from! It's one of the reasons I like working out at home, this has always been an issue for me too. You've coined a new phrase, mind if I use it? :D

Diana, two road trips? I'm so jealous, but don't think I would be brave enough to go. The footage looks like so much fun! I hope your son's trip went well, sounds exciting! : )
