Hey Vilma, and all! I ended up doing GS BSB this morning -- nice, but I'm envious of your cc7 -- I feel like running! There is another bad fire in our area -- about 15 miles from home. When we drove in yesterday it was really smoky, so I thought there'd be no running for me for a few days. This morning it seems pretty normal out there, so I may try tomorrow morning.
The trip was great -- we just tooled around north and east and stopped when and where we wanted to -- sometimes dictated by where we could stay -- a lot of places were full. Our favorite thing is to go where no one else is -- off some fire road or whatever, and we did that a couple of nights. We spent one night in an amazing meadow -- completely to ourselves. In the morning we looked out and there was a deer licking our stove! She stuck around for a while -- we got some pics, but not when she was really close. We also did a motel every couple of nights or so so that we could have a shower! It was a pretty good combination. I ended up calling what we did "carpacking" because it was sort of like backpacking (being nowhere with nobody and no facilities), but in the van.
I love hiking, too, Vilma. If I'd had my way, there would have been a lot of hiking every day, but for Larry it's all about the fishing. He mostly flyfishes, so there is walking in the stream/river, but that's not always that compatible with hiking. Sometimes it's best to sit on a rock and wait for him because the terrain is just too crazy (unless you really do want to walk in the water, which I did not always want to).
Joanne, at one point I was somewhere where I could have done some push ups, and I thought about doing them, but did not !, and then I thought "I can totally see why Joanne didn't work out while on her vacation!"
We have tons and tons of pics -- I'll try to post a site at some point. We made it as far as Mt. Lassen, which (for those who don't know) is a non-active volcano, but it does have a lot of thermal activity, so we hiked to some of that. It's just so amazing to see the earth sort of open like that. We wanted to get to Mt. Shasta, but it just didn't happen this trip -- we saw it in the distance on the drive home. Someday. I really liked Lassen -- rocks, but lots of green still from snow melt.
So you guys who are Chalene fans on fb -- I've heard there's a lot of spam from her -- is that not true? I've been afraid to sign up as her fan.
Off to clean out the van, do mountains of laundry, and hopefully find the dvd remote!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day........
