At the end, and really struggling!

This is more of a vent, really.

I'm 36 weeks at this point, and have been consistently working out my entire pregnancy 4 days/week (I dropped down to 4 once the fatigue set in). I've stayed with everything that I've done in prepregancy, and on tired days, just kept the workout to 30 minutes, or beginner level.

So here I am at the very end, and every day is getting harder to workout. I'm 100% out front and carrying very low, I look like someone put a beachball under my shirt. So it's really taking it's toll on my back and lower ab ligaments at this point.

I find myself fighting every workout. My toes go numb about 10 minutes in, and I have very little energy to fight through. Weights are much better, but I don't want to lose my cardio fitness since I still have a few weeks to go.

I'm just frustrated that I've made it this far, and now I'm seriously fighting the urge to throw in the towel until after I deliver. I know myself, and if I break the habit, it'll be h*ll to get back into it.

OK. Off my little platform now and back to sucking it up. Have I menitoned that I am SICK of being pregnant at this point???

hang in there.. You are almost there! I know it feels like you will lose your cardio fitness if you stop now, but really you won't. I am a runner and during my last pregnancy I stopped running and went to walking only right after 30 weeks. I was able to run again at 5 weeks PP (and I had a c/s) and it felt great. It only took me 2 weeks to work up to running 3-4 miles at a time again without stopping. I bet the same will hold true for you. Your body will bouce back easier and it won't be like starting from scratch. I say at this point you should listen to you body. If your feet are falling asleep what about just walking or finding an indoor pool and swimming? It will take the pressure off your feet. Also what about trying to do most of your weight work sitting.. This would equal upper body stuff, but at least it's something. it's okay to modify to get through the last few weeks. I know it's very frusterating when we want to go all out and do a great hard workout, but then our bodies are telling us no way. Hang in there.

i echo what trish said. the end of pregnancy is the worst. we just want those babies out!! you will do fine, and if your body is telling you to conserve energy, try to listen. i am a poor example as i am frustrated too - now 37 weeks pregnancy and cannot run like i did even last week. makes me frustrated and anxious. but, before you know it our little ones will be here. have you dropped? are you dilating now?

At some point at the end of my last few pregnancies, I have reached this point. I would just listen to my body if I were you and stop. I always think this is my body's way of telling me to get rested and ready for labor--they do call it that for a reason;-).

I think that other than morning sickness, those last few weeks are the hardest. Hang in there.

I agree with some of the other posts. It might not seem like it now, but you will get back into shape if you love working out and have the desire to get back to it after you have the baby. Right now is not the time to worry about losing your fitness. Especially if you are having difficulties with your back, etc. I was carrying out front and low, too, during my second pregnancy and I managed to strain my piriformis muscle (a muscle deep in the glute) at some point. I didn't even know it happened until after my baby was born. It took quite a few weeks for me to get over that once I started getting back to regular workouts (not just walking) 5-6 weeks post-partum. And I was not exercising other than walking at 36 weeks! If my toes went numb and I were fighting for energy, that would not be a fun workout. Try to focus on your pregnancy, relax, rest, and enjoy it as much as possible from here on out because these last few weeks really will go by fast. Light weights and walking when you have the energy would probably make you happier now, probably be more enjoyable and be the least taxing on your body. Congratulations and hang in there!

What about a nice stretch everyday? Personally I am LOVING Classical Stretch right now. I keep thinking about how flexible I'm going to be to squat that girly right out!:)

Good luck! Listen to your body! (said with love!)

Thanks everybody!
You're all right, and I know it. So I'm going to slow down and just focus on walking and some weights for the rest of my time

Sometimes I just need a bit of a smack from folks just like me!

I'm just about 35 weeks now and can barely stand up for a period of time or walk.

Listen to your body and it's okay to take a break now until the end!! I'm right there with you and it will be here before you know it! :) :)
