As the World Turns

Is being canceled. After 54 years (70 years for GL). What is the world coming to? I wonder what they are going to replace it with. Another talk show, or reality show?
1st Guiding Light and now ATWT. I haven't watched either of those in years but used to. Now I watch Y&R. It will probably be next what with the terrible writing and ridiculous story lines.

I was a Guiding Light fan and sad to see it go off the air. We don't really need any more talk shows, reality shows, etc. Also wondering what they are going to put on its place.

I was so sad to hear this . I hadn't watched in a long time--truthfully, haven't watched regularly since the first time Paul Leyden left (though I did tune in whenever they did bring him back), but I just started watching again when he came back a few weeks ago. Now this? Boo .

Now I'm just hoping he stays till the end and gets to wrap up Simon's storyline with Katie--in the right way. I've been waiting a long time for Simon and Katie to get back together again. It's just too bad it might have to happen because the show is getting cancelled .

I was a third generation GL fan! My grandma used to listen to it on the radio! I was so bummed when it got cancelled - but they made some filming changes so that w/ the lame story lines ... not a huge suruprise. It was a nice escape from reality while it lasted. And I agree - enough w/ the talk shows and reality shows. ESPECIALLY reality shows. Eck

I was a huge GL fan when I was in high school and college....so sad they are off the air . You could not call my Grandmother when As the World Turn was on she would answer the phone and say call me back my show is on! lol

Therese, I used to watch with my grandmother, too! She had a daily schedule: housework in the am, lunch, read the newspaper, take a nap, up at 1:30 to watch "her story!" I remember drinking leftover breakfast coffee with lots of milk and some sugar while we watched together. Of course, this stopped after I began school, but I'd still watch with her during holiday and summer breaks. I don't think she ever stopped wanting Lisa and Bob to get back together!

Grandmas and ATWT...good times!
