Just wondering what the workouts are like? I haven't really gotten bit by the DVD bug yet.I own a couple of workout DVDs but I still stick to VHS.I own the Terminator DVD and I love it.
My hubby is getting me The timesaver for Christmas and I was just wondering if anyone had done a workout from this DVD yet? Whats it like? How hard is it? Is it sort of like CTX?
Thanks,
Lori:)

Hi,

I've done the first 3 workouts and absolutely loved doing them. I felt worked out but not wiped out and getting done in under an hour is like a gift to me. I work out in the evening after work so having an extra 15 or 20 minutes to read or do other things is great.

Some may not feel it is enough weight work since you do only one body part per day (with the exception of workout #1 which does chest and triceps)but if you are crunched for time this DVD is invaluable.

I've read in another forum that some think if you have the other 3 DVDs, you can create your own workouts from those, making Timesaver unnecessary but I've never been one to sit around and play with the chapters, mix n match, etc. I just want to work out! That's why I love the pre-mixes and the Timesaver.

I personally don't think it's as hard as CTX but some may disagree.

I hope this helps and hope you enjoy it once you get it.

I haven't tried the Timesaver DVD yet, but I have previewed it. It looks wonderful. I'm following the rotation that Cathe has posted, but I'm thinking of switching to the Timesaver for a week. I'm thinking that since it is setup for 5 days that the 6th day I could do a full body weight workout such as Push/Pull or Supersets to get in the extra weight work I feel I may need.

I have done the first two timesaver workouts. I found #2 to be a little difficult to follow (I believe the step portion is from Step Blast, and I am by nature choreographically inept) so I didn't feel that it was super-intense, as I stood around and watched a large portion of it. However, the hi-lo section that followed got my heart rate up. My initial impression is that Timesaver is not as intense as CTX; the weight sections seem to be shorter and less comprehensive.

All that being said, I am definitely glad that I purchased the DVD. This time of year is so busy, and I was really struggling to fit my workouts into my schedule. I feel like I am getting the chance to "preview" my other BB DVD's by working out to smaller sections of them. Once all the craziness has passed and I have more time, I can do the other BB workout's and hopefully I will be able to just throw myself into them, without my usual learning curve (it usually take 3 times for me to get Cathe's step routines).

I haven't done them, but I've previewed them. One thing I found annoying is that there are several workouts that insert a card telling us to "do a cooldown before starting" the following weight work. Any workout where you have to insert your own cooldown is NOT a complete workout IMO! Surely some of the existing cooldowns could have been used, or new footage could have been inserted here. I'm rather disappointed in that.

One of the Timesaver workouts is comparable in intesity to All Step, minus the power 15's, 7's, and 3's she tacks onto the end. During the learning process, I find it difficult to add intensity to a workout because I focus on choreography. Once I learn the moves, then I can add power and make it as intense as I want. Another Timesaver workout is kickboxing and I think it's more intense than CTX Kickboxing, especially if you do jacks while Cathe and crew marches. I love that one. The leg workout isn't as intense as Leaner Legs but is very close and has lots of variety (barbell, dumbells, no weight at all) and I really felt it the next day. I think you'll like that one. Another Timesaver workout features half step and half hi/lo and is not as intense as 10-10-10, but if you do airborn jumps and plyos instead of double jacks like Cathe, the heartrate gets up there. Also, if you do plyo scissors (explosive lunges) during the running man, the heartrate flies! The weight work is the real gem here. She adds weight work from her Step, Jump, and Pump workout to each Timesaver, then some exclusive weight work footage that includes one armed preacher curls, 6/2 and 2/6 count pushups, and upright rows. I really like the weight work. I may try a Timesaver rotation next time I'm busy and crazy and need a break from longer workouts. Did that even answer your question? Sorry if not.

I did all the upper body of timesaver this am and the kickbox intensity drills yesterday and have used the abs on ts a couple of times. But have not used it as intended yet.I really like the upper body and the lower body looks good also but I keep reaching for legs and glutes:p and haven't tried it yet.

YES!! Two thumbs up for Timesaver!!

So far I have done #1, #2, #3 and #4!! All are great and I get a wonderful workout and felt sore the next day. So far #4 is the toughest but IS IT FUN!!! It is a lot like CTX but more updated.

Hi Kathryn! We were VERY limited for disc space on the Timesaver DVD and wanted to offer 5 workouts. If we were to offer a brief cooldown after each cardio workout, we would have had to cut the DVD to only 4 workouts. After reviewing this choice we felt that most of our customers would rather insert their own marches and side steps to lower their heart rates for three minutes then than lose a whole days workout. We realize our choices will never please everyone. Sorry to disappoint you.

Given the two choices, I'm certainly glad you made the decision to offer 5 workouts instead of 4. I've done enough of your workouts to be able to do the cooldowns in my sleep.;) LOVE THIS SERIES!!

I am SO happy that you chose to put 5 workouts on there instead of the cooldowns!! During that time I just walk around and get some water anyway, so it's no big deal.

I'm going to get a ton of use out of this DVD!! It is fantastic!;)

I almost always do my own cooldown anyway, so I won't even know the difference. (My cooldowns consist of: get a drink of water, pick up whatever messes the kids made while I was working out, maybe even rotate laundry...) I'm happy to have five workout choices rather than four with cooldowns.

I'm actually saving my Timesaver DVDs until spring, when I hope to get accepted into and start grad school. I don't want to give up working out entirely, but I'll definitely have to cut back, since I'm keeping my job and adding a long commute to college.
