arm/leg warmers

Does anyone use these for running or biking? Is there a difference between a warmer and a compression sleeve?

I use arm warmers all the time, and I have different "weight" warmers for different seasons. My spring/summer arm warmers are nothing more than lycra sleeves (or whatever they are made of - stretchy workout top material is what they feel like - no real thickness to them to speak of). I'll use these often for early morning bike rides - it's chilly when I head out but once the sun is really up I don't need them any longer and will just pull them off and tuck them into the cycle jersey pocket. I have another pair that have a thin microfleece inner side that are great for cold races. I'll occasionally use them for running as well, but most often I use them for cycling.

They are GREAT.

Oh - difference between a warmer and a compression sleeve. I can't imagine needing a compression sleeve arm warmer - you could use them as such, but ...... why? Certainly not for running/biking.

For your legs, given that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my CWX tights/shorts for running, I could see a compression sleeve used as a leg warmer for running or cycling, but in that case, I'd just use my running or cycling tights.

One huge downside to using a compression sleeve would be you can't possibly take them off while you are riding (thinking of cycling here) - they are TIGHT and take some work to get off. I can just roll my arm warmers off while I'm riding very easily - I don't have to stop.

Hi Mspina, . . where did you get yours? What brand? I've seen some that have SPF on them. I also love my CWX tights. They are like magic but they are not very forgiving when I'm having one of those not so slim bloating PMS moments. I'm an apple shape. :(

I got my fleecy ones at my local bike shop, and the thin ones I got at Team Estrogen (a few funky colors by Sheila Moon - LOVE THESE!!!): http://www.teamestrogen.com/product/apparel/extremities/arm-warmers/c0-c1-c55-c56.html

Another option is a bolero - I have one and use it often (covers shoulders and arms). I think the SPF thing sounds hokey - I've never been burned through clothing, certainly not opaque, tight lycra clothing!

Hi Mspina. Great thanks! I'll check it out. I read that the SPF only works for up to 5 washings and then you would have to reapply it yourself.
