Are your husbands, etc as active as you are?

Yes, my dh is as nutty as I am. Our builder used to call us Barbie and Ken! LOL! I'm not even blonde! He gets up an hour before me 4A. However, he goes to the gym. I don't mind though because I get the work out room to myself. Not much of a morning person at that hour.

We used to lift together when we were dating. I remember that he couldn't believe I had as much muscle definition from just machines. I had never been in a weight room, so he showed me the ropes. That was over 10 years ago and I never went back to machines. I'm so glad he's kept himself in shape.

My DH works out on the weekends mostly unless he gets home early enough from work, he will work out. He does strength training on his own and then he will do a Cathe workout like SS or some other one.

Heck no! When we first met he worked out with his own bench & weights. He even took some vitamins - woohoo! Now he sits in front of the computer or tv and complains that he's bored. But he still refuses to workout! We are total opposites when it comes to exercise and health issues. He lives on slurpees and cigarettes, I'm a health nut. He also complains about my working out too much. Is an hour to myself 5-6 days a week too much time to myself? I don't think so, especially when I'm doing something good for my mind and body. Ugh, my "healthy" addiction to working out and eating well, as well as his "unhealthy" addiction to sugar and nicotine have been the basis of too many arguments...sorry for venting.

Nope! Although he has changed his eating habits so there is a start. He no longer eats out for breakfast & lunch, has pretty much stopped drinking soda (has switched to propel) and has even switched to wheat bread. He used to be into power lifting when we first met but that really took a toll on his knees. He has been talking about getting a home gym this winter b/c he would like to start lifting again so I really hope he follows through with it. (and I'll get that leg press machine that I've been hinting about).

Even though he doesn't workout, he has a very physical job - he owns his own masonry business so he is active all day.

Nope. He does a little bit in the morning, but not much. On one hand,it's cool because he entertains our daughter while I'm exercising. On the other, he's getting squishy.

Nope! He used to be really active, especially when we first started dating (I was the couch potato then:). But he won't do anything now-- he is on his feet literally for at least 7 hours a day and when he comes home, he says he's too tired to work out. Like a lot of other posters' SOs, he can eat anything and not gain a pound. . .

Another no here. He's a black belt, but hasn't been into martial arts for at least 10 years. Every once in a while he starts trying to get in shape again, then stops. I do nag him to at least get out for short walks, and in NYC you pretty much are forced to walk to a lot of things. Plus I drag him swimming with me on the weekends, but it's a constant battle. And dammit, wouldn't you know that with all his inactivity, his cholesterol was perfect, while mine is high? x(

Anyhow, isn't it sad how many men won't take care of their health? Lots of women, too, but I think that overall, women are more likely to workout.

I'm more sedentary (office job) at work than he is. But his workout is less active than mine. Hubby bicycles around town once a week (10- 15 miles), and stretches no more than a couple days a week. I workout 3-5 days a week (strength training, cardio, pilates). He doesn't have a weight problem like he did when he was younger, probably because we're health conscious (especially the last 7 years of the 20 years we've been married).

Ah - NO!

This is the man who would not have sex with me until he ran 5 miles in the evening when we first met and married 15 years ago. He is now 50 lbs over weight and has moobies. I luv him but it is frustrating. I forced him to a physical a month ago. His cholesteral was 158. Mine is 229!!!!!!! Squishy is a good word for it. And lest we forget puffy face and chin. I have tried everything. He would rather click away at the tube until 11 or 11:30 than get up an hour early and workout. And on the rare occasion he does do that with me he is then mad at me.

I just make sure the life insurance policy is up to date.

My DH is a Foreman for a paving company. He does some heavy lifting, but pretty much walks around more and operates machinery. He does go to the gym though. He's there about 3-5 days a week. He has been a gym rat since he was 19 (33 now).
