A lot of supine on the ball, heels up on ball, bridging work done with variations works the hams better than the deadlift in my opinion. Take a look on youtube to search for these. Also, take a look at the "floorwork" Cathe does with ball and band or step and band in GS legs, second section, these also work the hams and glutes really well.
One of the best overall ham exercises is just hooking foot into handle or cuff of a resistance band/tubing, with other end around heavy machinery/furniture and with leaning body forward, lift leg purposefully behind you and do fast reps and high ends also with this, like cathe would (see Oxygen mag for April or March which has this exercise in it). You won't need deadlifts with these exercises, they are superior and use no weight except body weight, etc .
