Anyone using Apple TV?

I am just curious if purchasing the Apple TV device might be a better solution for me than the cable I would need to view the workout blender files on my TV. I only have an 8GB iPod touch so it will be a bit of a pain in the rear to constantly be shuffling around music and such to accomodate the large blender files. Does anyone have any experience with the Apple TV device? From what I heard at the Apple store it should work for playing the files but I'd like to hear from those who have successfully done it before I shell out the cash! Thanks for your input :)

Hi,

I have Apple TV but haven't used it to download Cathe workouts. From a general use standpoint, we use it a lot. We download TV shows and movies all the time. It's nice to have a large library to choose from and get the download immediately. I really like that we paid one price to buy the device and then pay individually for the downloads instead of having to pay a monthly fee (like with netflix).

Sorry I don't know anything about using it with the workout blender. I hope someone can address that for you.

Hmm, I had been considering doing the cable thing, too, but it looks as though Apple TV makes more sense. Enabled once again! :p Thanks!

Yes, I have one and love it! It doubles as my stereo system upstairs, since I have my tv connected to a surround sound system. The new ones don't seem to allow you to save everything on the device, which I'm not sure I like, but they definitely are worth the money.

I download my Cathe workouts to it and keep them there, not on my iPod or computer since they're space hogs. But, I do have the old model where you can do that. I back them up externally too.

I have the new Apple TV device that doesn't have a hard drive; it's just a communication device between the tv and the computer. I LOVE it. It cost $100, which isn't a lot of money given what it can do. I have an external hard drive for my computer that is 1 Terra byte. We store a lot of our videos on that that we don't watch too often, to save space on the iMac. My Cathe videos get stored on the computer's hard drive, and I can access them extremely easily with the Apple TV. Something I haven't tried yet is to make a workout using the Workout Blender and playing it through AppleTV. Since everything in iTunes plays on my AppleTV, I can't see why those wouldn't, either.

HTH,

I've been thinking about Apple TV but I understand you are limited to playing what is available on iTunes, I believe other systems (like Roku?) let you access netflix, and Hulu.

We would like to get rid of cable so I've been reading up on our options.

Google TV is another option but more pricey and no hulu.

I'm in Canada, and I have Netflix on my Apple TV. I've never heard of the other one you mentioned. I can also watch YouTube.

HTH,

Your Workout Blender files will work just fine on Apple TV.
