Anyone use NutriSystem?

Hi,

I tried to clean up my eating. I am always short of time, working full time with two young kids. I bumped into www.nutrisystem.com. I am interested in joining it. But before I do, I would like to know if anyone out there use this? What is your experience? Does it help to loss fat? I need to lose 30lb to get to my goal. I am getting back exercises after my foot surgery. But it seems to me good eating also play a heavy role of lossing weight.

If anyone can suggest other similar plans, I also appreciate. Cooking books are good, but I don't have time to cook it.

Thanks

My friend tried it and she said the food was terrible. She ended up giving most of it away.

I mean, come on - freeze-dried lasagna??? And these foods have shelf life of YEARS. Personally, I wouldn't want to be eating stuff like that. I would take 5-10 minutes out of my evening or morning to cook/make myself something.

But, I am militantly anti-pre-packaged foods, so there you go.

check out comments from consumers to the better business bureau - there are lots of complaints about customer service, not getting what they order, the food being horrible, etc.

There's got to be a better way, no matter what Dan Marino says!

Wow, thanks MadnNatsmom and jasper. I did not know it would be so bad. I went to their discussion board, based on what people there were saying, seemed to me quite impress.

I will check out bbb first.

Thanks

You can always give Weight Watchers a try. I used it last year and it really did work. I know of others that have tried WW and it worked for them too.

I used Nutrisystem last January for a couple of months and lost 25 pounds...since being off of it, I've been able to maintain pretty well...it basically just (re)taught me portion control. I actually enjoyed most of the food while I was on it (some of it wasn't great). However...that said...I did get pretty burned out on it by the time I finished! lol Anyway, I'm glad I did it...for me, it was the push I needed to lose the weight. :)

I went on it for a few months. I didn't lose an extreme amount of weight, but it did help me get back to portion control. I thought, "how cool, no cooking or thinking ahead of what I'm going to eat today!". Well, that's really not true. You have to add a bunch of "outside" food to the program. The nutrisystem food is just the basics of their plan. You will eat a lot of eggs, dairy, fruits, and salads from the grocery store, too. It's funny because if you just order their combination and not a "custom" one, you will get 95% of "bars" for breakfast and lunches. Not my thing, I like FOOD, not snack bars. And yes, some of the food is inedible! I would take a few bites and just toss it. No wonder people lose weight!!! (There were a few yummy entree's, but nothing jumps to mind this morning)

I noticed that ediets.com is now doing a food delivery. Their's is made "fresh" and shipped to you each week. A little bit more expensive than nutrisystem but possibly better food.

Thanks, ladies.

I heard about WW. Could you tell me how it works? Do I have to cook the meals based on their receips? Or do they also provide food? My problem is time. When I got home, I was tired and hungry. In order to get my kids eat first, I could not follow the rules. So if I can find the system that could send the ready to eat healthy food, that would be the best. I will check out ediet.com and see how much they charge.

Thanks

ww allows you to basically eat whatever you want cooked however you want.they give you a points range(instead of calories you count points), that you stick to per day. you get 35 extra points per week that you can use anyway that you want to and you earn extra points for exercise. they stress getting in dairy, fruits, veggies and healthy oil daily along with a multivitamin.
