Anyone try the new Amy Bento Videos?

Holy moly. I just previewed this on college video and I've never done kettlebell workouts but I can see why you would say this. This looked kinda hardcore. Moreover what is up with the no shoes thing. I can just imagine accidently dropping one of those bad boys on my foot. I'm accident prone. :( I remember reading a post not to long ago about someone breaking a wrist or hand or something with her kettlebell. Although I have not yet jumped on the kettlebell band wagon so I don't really know what they are like I have to admit this kettle bell preview scares me. But with that said I really appreciate everyones reviews. I think I'm going to get the kickboxing DVD to try something new.

Amy has another workout called Kettlebell 3 in 1 which is aimed more towards beginners. Kettlebell Dynamics is designed for those who are familiar with kettlebells - I definitely would not start with this one.

ITA, KB Dynamics is not for beginners to kettlebells. You have to already know how to do the basic moves - swing, snatch, clean, etc. I previewed it but haven't done it yet; maybe tomorrow.

I want to clarify that I'm not one of those purists who thinks every single move in a workout ought to be the one that everyone deems safe. I know there will be plenty who will probably nay say many of the moves and that's fine. My point is that, even though I'm newer to kettlebells, I can figure out what traditional kettlebell moves to modify to until I am comfortable with the moves in Kettlebell Dynamics. I think it's done in a very creative way and Amy is the reason I decided to purchase my set of kettlebells. I did the WU from Dynamics last night then heavied up and did the 3-n-1 which looks deceptively easier than it is. Amy's warm ups are very thorough in both kettlebell workouts. I will use them before my Lauren Brook's Kettlebell workouts from now on. A lot of kettlebell workouts are done barefoot. Kettlebells aren't for everyone, but I am loving them right now. Between my kettlebells, CLX, upcoming Cathe cardio, upcoming Amy Bento's along with her current ones, and my Turbo Jams, I am one happy camper who looks forward to working out!!!

i am agreeing with gogigi. most kettlebell purist recommend barefeet or flat footed shoes such has converse chuck taylors. and most of the moves know as "pure" are base moves. every single RKC instructor has a different style and creative take on the moves. mike mahler does, AoS does, phil ross etc. everybody is different but they all start with these base moves. doesn't mean all of them are 100% safe FOR US but we can't discredit somebody for it. they work hard to work up levels as RKC instructors.

and another thing, i know amy and some others are getting alot of flack for these workouts. well at least amy IS working on her russian kettlebell certification and she has workout with an RKC instructor on these workouts. normally i would naysay and stick with the familiars but phil ross has been in the game for a while(although some of us haven't heard of him before now) and has been doing kettlebells for years. so i will trust that if though amy was just jumping on the bandwagon and not serious about this he would put his time into the production. yeah its her fiance and all but the man his serious about his fitness and what he does, fiance or not i don't think anybody with his experience would waste time on fluff b/c it would hurt his footprint in the martial arts/fitness world. JMO though.

as for others well it tried some and wasn't impressed with the teaching of it. just "hey swing this" but without discussing proper alignment, which amy does offer even some of the more well know kettlebell workouts, where you need to know what you are doing, still go over this on most dvds.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents here. Keep in mind that I LOVE Amy and have been doing KB workouts for a while and am familiar with proper form, base moves, etc.

I haven't yet done this workout, but I threw it in this morning while getting ready for work and I can't wait to do it. It looks super fun. Glad it has some cardio sprinkled in it and a twist on the classic KB moves. Amy's form looked pretty good from what I saw and Amy's physique looks quite nice. The music is good. I just hope it has a good cool down and stretch!

Hi all,

I received my New Amy Bento Dvd's Kickbox Surge & Core Training and Kettlebell Dynamics on Monday. I previewed Kettlebell Dynamics and its awesome, I haven't done that workout yet, but I will after I finish STS. I agree this workout is not for beginners. So, if your a beginner I'd suggest get Amy's 3 in 1 Kettlebell for beginners DVD to learn the basic moves first then move on to Kettlebell Dynamics. I did try to view Kickbox Surge, but my DVD kept skipping and was not viewable at all. I emailed NRGfitness.net and told them that my new dvd I pre-ordered was damaged and that I'd like to see if I could get a replacement one. Amy replied back to me herself. She was very helpful and said that she'd send me a new one out. I just received the replacement DVD today, Saturday, Wow! Amy rocks! I did preview the Kickbox Surge DVD and its awesome. If I had to say what it reminds me of as compared to her other DVDs I'd say that it reminds me of All Cardio Hi/Low Knockout and In the Ring. Its sort of reminds me of both. I love both of those workouts and the music is so motivating you can't help but have Amy's energy rub off on you. I have not tried this new kicbox one but I plan to. Also, love the variety of premixes and enjoy the different time lengths of them so you can choose one to work for your time limits. Its all good and I can't wait to give it a try.

I got to give a shout out to Amy for great customer service!;)

Hugs!

Nora
