Anyone tried "Budokon" workouts?

In a" recent DVD-buying binge, I bought Cameron Shayne's 3-DVD "Budokon" series, which includes "Power and Agility", "Flow and Flexibility" and "Strength and Balance". According to the descriptions they're based on Yoga, martial arts and meditation principles. I've briefly previewed the "Power and Agility" one and it looks pretty good! I'm curious as to whether any others here have done them, and if so do you like them and how do they fit into your overall program?

TIA!

I acquired all 3 on a trade and have yet to do them! Parts look too advanced for me. I even forgot I had them, may have to dust them off, along with the Lalofits I got at the same time!

Hi Aquajock

I just watched the demo videos. I would love to hear your thoughts on them after you have tried them! They look really interesting and different.

Thanks
Heather

Hi, Heather! It will probably take a bit of time, and previewing all three of them in their entirety, before I figure out where they would belong in my own program. I'm thinking I could use portions of them after a shortened but highly intense cardio routine, so that I could get some good core and power work in without having to resort to weights. When I get to that point, I'll poke a post up here.

Have fun!

I too, am interested in hearing about this workout. I study Kung Fu and Tai Chi and it provides a pretty vigorous workout.

I have them! I also have his beginner workout that is more structured (first yoga, then kickboxing drills, then a few minutes of meditation). These three are much more challenging than his first set.

They remind me of Duncan Wong's workouts - challenging yoga with martial arts influences.

I've taken 6 years of Kung Fu and a couple years of Tai Chi and dabbled in TaeKwonDo for about a year and a half. I think these are pretty hard.

Hi A-Jock, you said TIA! in your closing- what does that stand for? Also, I see ITA sometimes- how about that? Sorry, I can be of no help on your DVD question.

Thanks!
Pam

Oh no, . . why did I open this thread? This forum totally enables me! :( Those look like fun. Please review when you've done them. I'd love to know. Man my DVD collection is taking over this house.

I had them and gave them away. I was bored with them...I am a cardio junkie and they were too slow for me. Those are my two cents!?

Aquajock - I have all 3 and love them! Power & Agility is probably the toughest. Lots of moves on the floor and getting up. You really need a strong core for these. Cathe's MMA Fusion is similar but I think Budokon is more pure MMA. I could have done without sitting in seza for the beginning 5 minutes on each one. I like the fact that you can go to the tutorial from the main workout and then go back to where you left off. I found the tutorials helpful. There were lots of moves I've never done before. I usually don't preview but these are probably worth previewing. I think Cameron is a great instructor. Even though these are only 50 minutes, I feel I get a great, effective workout from them.

Enjoy!

Thanks to everyone, and to you Marcy! Like you, I could have lived without all of that sitting on the floor - just like I don't need to have someone demonstrate walking around a room to "cool down", I don't need someone to demonstrate how to sit with my eyes closed. But these look promising!

I'll probably wind up using them as add-ons after a traditional cardio workout rather than as stand-alone workouts. Thanks for everyone's comments!

Annette,

I love these workouts! They are hard, (for now) and sometimes (because I'm just not there yet) they do things before I get to them. But I will master them soon. I love the ideas (MMA, Yoga, Meditation) incorporated in the workouts, and it is so different from anything I've ever done. They are full body workouts to be sure. I try at least to do one a week. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, my body will allow me to do another.:)

For me the sitting on the floor is a way to get your body back to a steady state. Concentrating on my body and letting go of the very challenging workout done, is extremely important.

You can't beat these workouts, they are awesome!
