I have been a popcorn addict for years, and love the microwave stuff, but sometimes can't stand the salt and worry about the other ingredients...
Sooooo, I found this fantastic microwave popcorn popper for about $9.00 that's just a bowl with a special lid. You put in your regular popcorn and put it in the micro on high for about 4-6 minutes (til it stops popping) It's as healthy as air-popped, but has more flavor.
To add extra flavor (not all the time, but when I need a splurge) I spray it lightly with cooking spray and sprinkle on salt, or other seasoning. The spray helps the seasonings stick but doesn't add a lot of fat. (I know it's chemicals, but it has to be better than the regular microwaved bag stuff) I got some kettle corn sprinkle seasoning (cinnamon, sugar and salt, I think) at Target (they had it for their own popcorn popper) that tastes really really good, too.
I used to live on airpopped popcorn - probably went through a popper every few months in college
mmmmm...now I feel the urge to go make some, and it's way to late for THAT to be a good idea!! Maybe in the morning... ;-)
