Anyone read the book SUGAR BLUES??

It's an older book that I've had for years, and just started reading it again for some inspiration to eat healthier. Can't remember exact details about it, but I do remember it was very eye-opening as to how bad sugar is for us. Anyone else read it or have comments about it?

I read it a few years ago - still have a copy of it. He makes some excellent points especially when he discusses the history of sugar - and yes, so much of what he says is true about the detrimental effects on our bodies. However - I do think he displays extraordinary extremism. I mean - really - he says cigarettes are bad because of the sugar in the paper. . . . really silly if you ask me. They aren't good with sugar-less paper. . . .

But he makes you think. I see extremists for what they are - people who make us question the norm. I do, however, agree with him that sugar is Satan to our bodies and we have gotten way out of control with it in our society.

I read it when it first came out, and it got me off sugar for a while (which is saying a lot, because at that time, I ate a lot of sugar). Funny thing: I visited my grandmother during that time, and while she took in stride my telling her I'd just become a vegetarian, when I refused a cookie and said I didn't eat sugar, she said in the most stunned voice "You don't eat SUGAR?!"

I do remember reading it years ago - and feeling like it opened my eyes to some issues about sugar in food that I had never thought about before!
