Anyone just use one workout for a month?

Hi,

Has anyone just chosen one workout, say for example, Muscle Endurance, and used that only for your strength workout for that month?

I'm asking because I mix and match all the time and I'm wondering if just using one workout for a month and then switching to another one has any benefit.

Would the muscles really grow and get defined from doing the same exercises but just upping the weights? Then, just as the body is adapting, a new workout is added - or is it best to mix and match and switch it up.

I'm trying to use my workouts in new ways. I know I can do just series, but I've never done this before.

Thanks. (I hope I made sense).

I think it might be better to stick to one style of lifting (ie endurance) for that period rather than just one particular workout. Not only might you get bored, but your muscles will adapt very quickly and long to branch out to a bit more ;) HTH!

Not since I first started doing video workouts.
I think it might workout alright for beginners (who can go 4-6 weeks or even more without plateauing on a workout), but more advanced exercisers tend to adapt more quickly (sometimes even 2 weeks).

But I agree that doing just one weight workout for a month would be boring (I'm finishing a 2 1/2 week CTX rotation, and it's repetitive enough for me (and it's 2 1/2 weeks instead of the 3 weeks I intended because of that 'been there, done that' factor, so I combined some of the weight workouts for this last 1/2 week so I can finish them all 3 x through without doing all the cardio again).

Going from 'switching it up all the time' to 'using one workout for a month' seems unnecessarily extreme to me to see if you can get better results. Why not ME for 2-3 weeks, or an 'endurance' rotation using ME and PH for 3-4 weeks, or a 2 day pyramids split plus ME once a week for 4 weeks or so?

Thanks. I think you confirmed what I alread knew.

I'm going to do a muscle endurance rotation and use ME, PH, Jari Love Ripped, and then throw in a Termintor workout or other Cathe circuit workout and play around with that for a while. I know Cathe has an old Muscle endurance rotation that I used to like.

I may even add in MIS or Pyramid for a change of pace. I love Muscle endurance work. Tonight I'm going to do the Muscle endurance Bootcamp combo from that DVD.

I've got several GREAT rotations that I printed off when I first joined the forum. A lot of them were created by Jillybean and if I remember correctly she had one rotation where she worked through a particular strength series or two for 4 weeks at a time, starting with MIS. I sometimes think that I should get back to this so I can keep better track of progress and make particular goals for that workout. I've become the queen of variety and sometimes wonder if it doesn't affect my success somewhat, although, if I'm in the middle of a rotation and can't make myself do what is scheduled, but want to and will do something else, that is better than something.

Gogi- your post sounds like me. I switch it up so much that sometimes I couldn't tell you what workout is repsonsible for a certain result. Anyway - I pulled out an old Cathe ME rotation and she uses ME, PH, CTX Bodymax and Bootcampplus some leg work. I don't have CTX so I'll sub something else. I then found the original Hardcore rotation and will tack on the Muscle endurance rotation she posted.

By the time I get through this, the New Cathe's will be out and I can work them in.

I did ME/bootcamp combo last night and had forgotten what a great workout that is. I love the intensity series pre-mixes and combos.

I probably could never stick to one workout for a month - as soon as I start one, I miss another.:)
