Anyone into Ballet workouts?

Ballet workout

I did the new york city ballet workout.....
i loved it....loved it, loved it.... now i want a couple more tapes by them! (there arent any)

they had alot of indirect ab work as well as regular abs ....
They had a nice sampling of leg work section .... but it was just a sampling.
they did some great things i have never seen in my dance background .....
All in all it was a simplified class... but good work.

at the end of the workout they had "a day in the life" of 4 dancers, segments of them in class, performance and just doing whatever else they do in their lives.... ....... i nearly cried at the beauty of some of the shots of them dancing......

Hi Cinza~Margaret Richard's website is www.bodyelectrictv.com It also has a TV guide showing her schedule if you get PBS on your TV. I am not familiar at all with her. Ruth has some of her tapes and has offered a couple to me. She said that the tapes are expensive but you can usually find them for cheaper on the Internet. Did you do your step-ups and push-ups yet!! GET BUSY!!;-)

its only 6:30 am and i am already behind on my step ups and push ups!!!

Ruth made me hit the floor yesterday at 6:30 am...
then i did more pushups last night with the ballet workout...10.pm
I have taken to doing my pushups from the knees.. I just cant manage the others...this way i feel much better about them...
I feel like i am cheating...but i know i will do the full monty when i can.
no doubt I will soon be shouting from the mountain tops: "I LOVE pushups"

i have sculping today.. so i will get 24- 36 pushups and a world of step ups.... i have raised my step in class to 4 risers and am using that class to do my tuesday and thursday step ups because there are tons of them in various forms in the class...Last time I came home from class and tried to do my step ups at home my knees hurt.. so i am going a little more gentle today.....
I have also added other stuff for my rear that targets just the glutes... kick backs and such from the knees with ankle weights .. and pelvic tucks sqeezing a ball between my knees...

I have decided to follow the plan in "Look Great Naked" I think that has the most comprehensive "butt" section of anything i have read...
It doesnt depend on lunges and sqats solely. It does alot with hamstrings and glutes ... I think I need to shape those hamstrings to make the bottom of the bottom distinct from the top of the leg..
my quads are getting over all large and hard from the sqats and such..but i am not getting as defined in the back.. And my tush has never been sore till i started my targeting...
With the weights and targeting i definately am sore or you could say I have a hot little backside !! :)



i am going to a tai chi class this morning...why does it have to be at 7:30?
I never have done any tai chi before.
My son does Tai Chi at his Quaker school (!) and loves it... He says it massages your organs, he also says.....and you have to do it perfectly.....I like working slow and hard and trying to be perfect....(control freak)

Is there something particular that Margaret R does that she is loved for? i will go look up the site and take a peek.

i am thrilled we did this... it went by so fast.
i have to find my measurements i took....so i can consider the effects...
whats next for challenges?

Hi, Ladies!

Cinza you evil woman I did your 21!!! BUT...I had my new handle bars to try, so it was actually fun. I can't tell you what a difference they make for me. The dumbells helped a little, but these are so much better. I don't know, maybe I have weak wrists (?) but I was able to do more reps with better control.
I'm so glad you finally allowed yourself to get your tape, & I'm also really glad that you loved it! Now I want it too, of course! But it's not at the top of the list yet. Actually, I would kind of like to try body pump after reading comments here. I looked on Amazon for the book you recommended - Look Great Naked I think. A couple of people hated it, others liked it. I could get the paperback now but hate paperbacks so will probably wait a little longer & get the hardback. If you think the "exercises for the posterior" are good, that's good enough for me. Do you have his other book? Some of the people who hated this one, liked that one.

Tai chi?? Now that sounds fun, if a wee bit early in the morning for this night worker! Actually there is a tai chi studio right next door to the hospital (where I work), but I have never seen any adults in there, only children. Which made me kind of self-conscious to ask about it! Let us know what you think of it.

Have you seen your crush lately? Has he noticed what an evil woman you are yet? (You know that's a joke don't you).

Debbie, I've really enjoyed emailing with you - so much fun to make new friends, especially when they share my obssessions, as C. would say. The MR tapes are packed & ready to go, & my hb should be able to send them off tomorrow - if tomorrow is Saturday? I've kind of lost track. Couldn't figure out why my workouts were so hard lately & today realized I REALLY do not feel good, so apparently the old body knew what was coming. (flu?) Actually I'm feeling kind of blah now so will go rest & force liquids & all that kind of jazz. (Hugging the dog works better than anything!)

Sorry to run on & on, I think I have a fever because I always run my mouth excessively when I do! I almost forgot, I didn't take any measurements as I was not in on the first days of the challenge, so I guess I will have no tangible results, but I can tell the difference.

whew... i did it...(did i tell you i do them from my knees now... thats much more appropriate for me.....and its still tough after 13)
and in an hour i will do 9 more in pilates class.

i loved the tai chi ...turns out the instructor is the same one who teaches at my son's school! my beautiful 16 year old son turned me on to tai chi....its slow, graceful and requires you to work from the inside out.... As a dance i was always good at the slow stuff because i love working every bit ofthe detail and feeling of each movement.

my crush was not at class last night.
he probably has noticed i am evil! I stand out in the class because i use my dancerly qualities to make each move beautiful and i add weights when no one is doing weights... and i always go turn the fan on and blast it at myself when i get hot... which annoyes people on my side of the room no doubt...
My evil nature figures if they arent hot in that class they arent working hard enough )
any how i think this man is a judge....
i think he is from the east coast by the way he dresses...I would guess boston....
The reason i have a crush on him is because I LOVE watching him work out!
He is like me...he really gives everything and works way past what the instructor is doing, past what anyone else in the class is doing.
He is the only guy in there... looks like a huffing bull in the cow pen!!
At first i was simply amused by how hard he works ..... but then i started to understand that his straightforward determination and sincerity in working out really tells me something about the person inside ...
aside from watching him i think he is keenly inteligent, stable, self assured, honest, emotionaly strong and a nice kind of handsome ..... fit too!
I would like someone with his kind of accomplishement, intelligence and strength in my life....if they had a sense of humor, kindness and creativity too....

But .. dont forget he is getting married.... probably to someone who doesnt have my wild hair or challenging eyes ... :(
