I have to say, I am getting there:) I am so releived that I have most of my shopping done so I just have DH and DD to really finish up.
Tonight before I came to work DH and I ate dinner downstairs and he turned on a dvd and I didn't know what we were watching. It ended up being "Elf". So he is getting in the mood to.It just seems to be over so fast!
I am now at work and "home alone" is on.We watch the home alone movies every year to.
Just wondering...am I the only early bird?
Lori:)

oooooo I'm not yet:) it takes me well until december to get in the christmas spirit. once i'm there, then its good :) I think it may have something to do with all 6 years of college, trying to finish up the semester by the week before christmas. Thank goodness my masters is done this december! :)

I don't think so, Lori! I was at the Hallmark Holiday Open House yesterday, and I got the little piano-playing snowman... and I've been hitting his button every few hours just to hear the Christmas music! :) I love Christmas.

That's funny you watched Elf yesterday- I ordered it from Deep Discount DVD yesterday!! I can't wait until all the movies and shows are on TV.

I'm with Tina, though, in that I can't really start to celebrate until after exams are over December 5...

Oh yeah, I'm in the Christmas spirit all right. Today I feel like a big, fat stuffed bird.:p

Seriously, though, no. It doesn't hit for me until December. People have their lights up and on already and that just makes me go "bah humbug".

I honestly am not. I need to get my shopping done before it sets in because then I will be waiting in long lines and fighting horrendous traffic. BAH!

I do like lights. We always drive around with the kids onthe weekends to look at the lights. Gorgeous!!! :7

Oh! Whats wrong with you gals!;) I wouldn't have my lights on yet though.Although, DH says that he is putting them up the next nice day b/c ya never know what kind of weather me might get.
I think I am in the mood b/c I have most of my shopping done and I can relax a bit.
Lori:)

i have the shopping done for the two kids, haven't budget out adults yet but it would only be for my sister and hubby. i am not in the holiday mood b/c even last night the store was just to crowded and loud(even worse for viola to handle then for me) with some early birds and ppl who just do there weekly food shopping there. i love the xmas morning watching movies and all that but all this shopping just makes me a scrooge.

No, I'm ready at all! I don't start shopping till the day after thanksgiving. That's really when I get in the mood, cause that is the biggest shopping day of the year! I put up my tree and decorations then. I try not to get excited so early because it is over with in one day.:-(

kim

I am for sure! I am already getting lists from people and Ideas on what they want. I wait until after thanksgiving for decorations but mentally I am excited :) Freinds and I and my son will do all kinds of Christmasy things starting right after thanksgiving! Looking at lights, parties. movies, parades...it is all part of the Christmas so I don't think Just christmas morning it is over. We celebrate it for a few weeks ...Thanksgiving to New years :)

Terri

Hoo boy--I'm just trying to get through Thanksgiving, which we are hosting for the first time this year. Feeling just a little stressed!:p :p.

We do Christmas shopping throughout the year as we see good deals (just have to remember where we hid those presents:))

Maggie:)

Last night I was watching a special on Nat King Cole and at one point he sang that song that begins "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire" and I was there. I have no real religion, and we don't celebrate Christmas in my family, but Christmas in New York is a very special time, and every New Yorker is involved with it. And there's something about that song sung by Nat King Cole that just makes you want to take a sleigh ride. Anybody know the name of it?

I ALWAYS wait until the day after Thanksgiving...This year it will be 2 days after, as my mother's coming up and my brother will be here Friday with his 3 frightful girls (I know, they're just kids...But renagades!!)

Once decorations are up in the house, the shopping begins!!!!

I am in the mood! I have a lot of fun stuff planned for the week leading up to Thanksgiving so I am super excited. I will be spending 5 days with my family and while I am there, I will be doing another 1/2 marathon and on Thanksgiving, a Turkey Trot! FUN FUN!

Also, I am SUPER in the mood because my kids are at the age where they are starting to really "get it"!!

I just love, love, love Christmas and can get into the mood very easily. My daughter always used to say it was "illegal" to play Christmas music before Thanksgiving and would give me that "look" whenever I would. (She is grown and out of the house so maybe I need to go find all my Christmas CD's! ;-) As far as shoppping, I am waaay behind. I have only bought for the grandkids so far. I also make my cards every year and haven't even started them. YIKES! I say every December that I am starting them next year in July but it NEVER happens. We are taking the kids and grandkids to Disney this year for a week in December which is going to put me even more behind but somehow I always "get there"! Nancy, I love the Christmas Song! (& chestnuts too!) Merry Christmas everyone! Ha!

Christmas is my favorite season. I call it a season because we enjoy the decorating, lights and parties from Thanksgiving 'til Christmas. I love everything about. Of course I overspend every year and this year DH said he needs to approve every gift before I buy it. I'm already wanting to put up the Christmas Tree but my family says we have to wait until Thanksgiving weekend.

Diana

Not quite yet. I usually start getting into Christmas right after Thanksgiving. I should start getting into it earlier though, because I'm always bummed when Christmas is over.

:)

Nancy,
That is one of my all time favorite christmas songs too!!! I also love hearing "White Christmas" (I think it is by Bing Crosby??). Anyway....I must say living in Texas (I am a transplanted New Yorker) for the past 7 years I can't say I remember seeing a white christmas here yet. Although I don't miss shoveling the snow, I do miss how pretty the snow looks around the holiday season. Maybe, we will get some this year!!

Just some holiday thoughts,

Debbie H, you probably know about this, being in my area and all, but we have a really cool railroad that does all kinds of special trips through the year, and at xmas they have the Polar Express, just like the story! It is so popular you can only get the tickets by lottery, and WE GOT 'EM!!! You wear your PJ's and everything, and all the kids get their own xmas bell. I am saving this for a surprise for my 8 year old son, we are all sooo excited. If that doesn't put me in the christmas mood, I don't know what will. Even my 20 year old son wants to go, and he is wearing PJs too!

Our tickets are for December 2, so I will post on how it goes.:7

HO HO HO!

YES!!! My kids and I were just singing Christmas songs while making/eating lunch. I found these cute Santa, Rudolph, etc. plates in my pantry and I'd put one in front of my face and start singing. They were laughing so hard! I probably looked rather silly. ha ha! I was finishing making lunch and they started singing Jingle Bells on their own.

I'm also in the spirit because I'm almost done shopping! That always make me happy. :7 I did my envelops last night for my Christmas cards, but I still have to take the Christmas picture.

Nancy, I love that song too!
