Anyone finds it challenging to keep pace with Cathe & the crew on X10 Cardio Blast Burpees?

I am always 1 rep behind Cathe & her crew on each set of burpees (3 sets, 5 reps per set) in X10 Cardio Blast? o_O

One explanation I can come up with is: I believe I am a lot taller and it takes time for me to get back up.
Or, my explosive strength and endurance needs improvement.

This is not a deal breaker for this workout. I enjoy the heart-pumping cardio. I am just curious as to what other Catheletes experience. :)

I am 5'10" with really (35" inseam) long legs. I could never keep beat with Cathe during burpees.

What works for me is putting my hands on the mini topper (with or without an additional riser depending on the speed of the burpees). I feel that it equalizes my extra long legs and that using the topper doesn't lessen the cardio affect of the exercise.

This works great for Spiderman climbers too.

I haven't done X10 in a few years and I usually do substitutes for burpees, so I can't speak to your question. However, your post has reminded me of the forgotten workout & I plan to pull it out for add-ons next month. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Thanks for reading and responding. I love X10 workouts.

I am mindful of my burpee form and prefer to pace myself. That said, Cathe and her crew earned my respect in that regard.

For the other workouts in X10, I can match and exceed the recommended weights except Simultaneous Curl and Overhead Press with 10 lbs dumbbells for 32 reps non-stop. I saw Amanda grimacing towards the end. I have to lower the weights as Cathe suggested to keep up with the tempo. Cathe has duly earned my respect on what she can lift with overhead presses, especially in STS and STS 2.0.

Andrew Huberman’s most recent podcast highlights the benefits of skipping, which made me want to pull out Cardio Kicks for that one little ( but fun) sequence where she does that. For now, I stick with Afterburn when I want to up the intensity, as I find it easier to control with the way it’s sequenced

I like Afterburn too! I think there's skipping in 4-Day Split's Bootcamp and maybe Drill Max. If there's not - I probably sub it in :).

I think you'll find that everyone has a different frequency for burpees simply due to height differences, no matter one's fitness level. I find that keeping up with Cathe and her crew has helped me be quicker but my height and long legs make it a challenge. If you talk spin, though, my legs don't rotate like theirs at all! I get a really good workout but I can't stand the way they do nor spin as fast when they are in super fast mode.

Hope you do not mind me asking how tall are you? Just do what you can and or happy with.

To everyone that responded to my thread, THANK YOU.
Apologies for the late acknowledgement of everyone's valuable input.

One thing aging has taught me, which is smartly captured in Ann Landers' quote:

“At age 20, we worry about what others think of us. At age 40, we don’t care what they think of us. At age 60, we discover they haven’t been thinking of us at all.”

I live each day thankful and grateful I still have the ability and capacity to exercise for my physical, cognitive and mental health.

@fitdab If I want to train for speed, I use your option, or I use gliding discs to help me get back up faster.
