Anyone exercise without socks?

Lately when I am doing cardio, my toes start tingling about halfway through the workout. I recently replaced my athletic socks and they seem to be thicker than the last set I bought. I also replaced my cross-trainers as well. I went up a half size as suggested by the salesperson and they seem snug with my socks. I tried loosening the laces a little but that didn't seem to help. I don't remember having this problem in the past.

Other than the sweat factor, is it necessary to wear socks during a workout?

I don't know if it's necessary for everyone, but for me it is. I sweat a lot and I need my socks to absorb that moisture so my shoes don't get stinky with repeated use . I only go barefoot when I do yoga or barre, but I never wear closed shoes without socks and that includes my athletic shoes and if I wear closed shoes for the office. The ones for the office are trouser socks and the ones for my athletic shoes are men's socks, I recommend the short ones (ankle height) from Puma. You can find them at discount stores like Burlington or directly from Puma, they're really good. There are a lot of other brands I have tried and liked so if you can't find those or you don't like them it's easier to find other brands that are just as good. Oh, and since I always use men's socks I go up half a size in my shoes as well. I also bring a pair of my socks when I buy new sneakers so I can try them at the store and pick the right shoe for me.

That's what I did when I went to the Nike Factory Store. The fit felt good - not snug or tight.

I would try the shoes with the old socks to see if they fit better. It might be the socks, the shoes, or both. Sometimes you need to go up a whole size. Another suggestion is to go to amazon, zappos, and similar websites, enter the brand and model of the shoe to read the reviews. If the problem is the shoe and not the socks, can you return or exchange them?

Those are my suggestions. :)

I never wear socks with my workout shoes--at least when I'm indoors doing the DVDs. For me it's just more comfy. I love going barefoot so that might have something to do with it.
