Anyone else watch Dogtown?

What an ingenious idea for a TV show. And it's the ultimate PR for Best Friends Animal Society. Did anyone see the story of Tuffy last night? What a sweetie pie! And that little puppy? Talk about happy ending tear-jerkers.

I should look up how it's rated as a charity, but I already made an online donation. Couldn't help myself! I hope it's a highly-rated charity.

Okay, I'm replying to myself. It's a 3-star charity. Meets or exceeds industry standards. And the salaries are very reasonable. I once had a client who worked at a 9-5 desk job for a charitable org, and his salary was enormous. I would never support such a charity. The Dogtown employees put much more into their work, and some of them are highly skilled. They deserve every penny they make. :)

I'm quite familiar with the Best Friends society, though have never seen the TV show. Someone who knows my family recommended them. I joined their membership and one of the founders personally called. Just wish I could donate more but it's tough right now. I believe they really care about their animals.

It's about rescue workers who have a wonderful facility in Utah called Dogtown where they take rescue dogs and treat them, care for them, rehabilitate them and do everything possible to turn them into adoptable pets. They will do everything possible to save a dog, regardless of cost. The veternarians will perform as many surgeries as necessary. The workers will foster the dogs while they are healing from medical procedures. The trainers teach them how to behave and get along with other dogs. The show follows about 3 dogs per episode. They probably focus on the dogs with the most miraculous recoveries, but it is amazing to watch.

Tuffy was found almost dead and beyond hope, and he required numerous surgeries, but he made a full recovery. He was adopted by a wonderful family and even became a therapy dog because of his wonderful personality. They called him Tuffy because he was so tough and refused to give up. I am soooo addicted to this show.

OMG I saw this show for the first time about a week ago and I LOVED IT! DH and I watch the Dog Whisperer alot and that night DH went to bed when it was over but I stayed up for a bit. Dogtown was on next so I figured I'd see what it was about. What a heart-warming showing. These people care soooo very much about what they do and those poor animals are so lucky to have them. :)

Dogtown is a great show. I have seen it a few times along with the encores. They took quite a few of Michael Vick's dogs to rehabilitate them and they seem to be doing well. Great place and what a dedicated group of people.

I LOVE this show. I don't think I've ever watched it without crying. What a great facility - I think I'd like to move there.

If you're interested, Animal Planet has several shows about Animal Cops (Houston, Detroit, Miami).
Yea, I watch those. What we REALLY need is a tv show that's the equivalent of an animal CSI. I mean, we have a million cop and doctor shows and it is TIME to put animals in prime time on network tv. The ratings would be awesome. I think I need to suggest this...

Nancy - I'm soooo behind on OD reading and thought I'd catch up today so I'm a little late getting to your post about Dogtown, but I just had to say I LOVE that show! It's really hard for me to watch it, but what an amazing place and what amazing people who work with those dogs. I first watched it when they did the special on the Michael Vick dogs (being an owner of 2 rescued pit bulls I had to watch). Those people have the biggest hearts. They absolutely DO NOT give up on those dogs! The world needs more people like them.
