Anyone else unfocused??

Lately, I sit at my desk at work with the attention span of a 2-year old. I'll be in the middle of doing something, and I'll think of something else, and start doing that instead. I'll write a personal email or look up something on the internet. I just can't stay focused on anything. Anyone else having this problem? What do you do about it??

I've been feeling the same way lately, Nancy, and I think that mine is spring fever! Is there something else that could be occupying your thoughts?

I've been setting time limits for myself so that I have to do work for x number of minutes before I can check email, the forums, etc.

:)

Yep, I am right smack in the middle of my own unfocused moment!x( I always wind up on the forums during these times, or shopping online....:)

I need to set goals or something, like work for 45 minutes....then "play" for 5 minutes....work for 30 minutes, then "play" for 10 minutes , or whatever, that might work--oops, that is what Leanne said...

We are all so disciplined and focused when it comes to our eating and workouts, whats up with the rest? I dunno.:)

I also find if I am actually excited about a project, the more focused I am.

Right there with ya!! I do what others have said. Take little mini-breaks to check this and other blogs/forums/news, etc. Then, back at it. I took a three week (ack!!) break from working out, although not intentionally. I was just exhausted. Now I'm back at it. Getting my focus back. I'm blaming it on the change of seasons and the time change. I got all disoriented (that's what I'm going with anyway).

there have been some very, very interesting studies done on peri, pre, and post menopausal women and attention/concentration. seems that prior, many women "of a certain age" were coming to their doctors or psychiatrists saying they thought they had ADHD (with or without hyperactivity). the thing about an ADHD diagnosis is that is HAS TO have been present developmentally. you can't just "get it" all of the sudden. these women had NO prior history and that is a must for an ADHD diagnosis.

anyway, the research seems to show that as women age, the effects of menopause (any stage) and the hormones associated with it can produce a lack of focus, inability to attend for long periods of time, etc.

just another thing to look forward to, i guess!

I also listen to music on headphones at work (the Pandora website) whenever I can. It relaxes or energizes me, as I need. That seems to help tune out the other distractions. Now I just have to stop dancing around in my chair!!

Nancy - I get like that as well every now and again. Not much I can do about it when I get like that, except eat well and try to exercise at least a little (even go for a walk to clear my head), then make sure I get enough sleep that night.

Yep all this 70 degree weather in Michigan has me just wanting to go outside and play with my kids forget working out I was hoping I would stick with it this summer but it looks like I am going to give in to take the time off.

I could've written your post! It's so frustrating, especially the lack of productivity. I just feel like I can't get anything done. I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one going through this. ;)

I've been feeling like this lately with my workouts. I've been lifting heavy for about 10 weeks now and Im feeling so unmotivated like Im tired of it I'm tired of eating healthy and the thought process behind the whole thing!!! Does anyone ever feel like this? Is 2 weeks too long for a nonworking out break??? Im afraid of losing what Ive gained and what Ive worked so hard for.
