Anyone else like the shoulder exercises in Legs/shoulders?

I did that today on FitTV and I dont' know what was edited, but the parts they showed really were effective. I had never done the shoulder work laying down before (not sure what she called that move), but you lay on your side and rotate the arm up.. that really got the burning feeling in my shoulder. Does anyone have the video DVD? She did 3 shoulder exercises w/ two standing (front raise, and then one where we leaned over and lifted our arms straight back.. then the laying down one. Were there any other's that are on the DVD?

Yes, I like the shoulder exercises in that one. Only problem is when I am lying down and putting those 8lbs back towards my head and going back up again, my elbows keep locking up. Ah, that frustrates me.

funny you should mention that - I was watching while feeding my son! Those shoulder exercises looked great! I can't wait to buy some more DVDs. Money is tight so I have to choose carefully. O

Oh that is great you can use 8's.. I only attempted 5's. :) It was giving me a nice burn by the last few. I bet it is frusterating to have that happen.

What is the DVD name? I have them all but I don't recognize the exercises. Was it Slow and Heavy?

Yes! It was the slow and heavy w/ the shoulders and legs. I think the Fit TV version was seriously cut.. they only had 3 shoulder exercises.. not sure what they cut out though. I really think I am going to get the slow and heavy series.. I loved the bicep/tricep one and then the legs/shoulders was great too. Only one I haven't done is chest/back.. is that what it's called?

Charlotte,
Are you talking about a shoulder exercise, or lying extensions/dumbell french presses (tricep exercise)?? http://images.google.com/imgres?img...&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2004-20,GGLD:en&sa=N

Because, during lying extensions/french presses, I also experience my left elbow locking. It is so frustrating.

The only thing I've found that helps is to lower the weight a little, and adjust my wrist position, continually going through the french press motion until I hear a sort of crack or pop (absolutely no pain or any sort of feeling involved, just the noise)and then my arm can fully straighten... After that I can go back to the heavier weight.

Anyway, just checking. I don't get that during any of the shoulder work, just the tricep work, so I was wondering if that's what you're experiencing, too.

Thanks,
Wendy

Here's the description from the DVD link:

Next you will immediately go into your shoulder work. The effectiveness of these shoulder exercises is not only due to the slow manner of repetitions but also to the slight angle changes of the body as you perform the exercise. You will do dumbbell front and side raises with a 10 degree anterior tilt, a posterior delt raise with a flat back to engage and strengthen the lumbar region, a seated overhead press with your arms at a 45 degree angle for comfort and safety, and conclude with an external lying rotation to strengthen the rotator cuff.
