hi all,

i am waiting on my Classics DVD to come in .. can't wait.. while i am waiting i have purchased Christi's Totally Cool Step.. and CIA DVD with 2204, 2205, and 2206.. WELL , i have a really hard time with the choreography on these step workouts.. does anyone else do any of these workouts.. and how do you get those steps??? :( .. Cathe is totally more intense .. but her choreography is easier ... in my opinion.. Maybe i will keep trying.. cuz the Christi DVD is so fun.. if i could get some of the steps it will be a blast!! Anyone do these workouts.. talk to me.. chime in .. tell me it will get better.. or .. Maybe i am just hooked on Cathe !!and nothing else will do!

thanks

Hi kandeycane (love the name!)

I do Christi and some of the CIA videos (I particularly like Franny Benedetto--hers is 2205 I think but don't hold me to that number). They have different styles from each other & from Cathe. Cathe is more "athletic" & Christi is more "dancy" IMO, and that appeals to the frustrated dancer in me (as well as the frustrated athlete!) I did my first Christi about 6 or 7 years ago & did the routine twice & set it aside for 6 years!! I wasn't used to her style & found her choreography impossible. I now really enjoy her choreography, maybe I've picked up some of her "language" & I now have all of her step videos. If they were too easy to learn they wouldn't stay interesting, IMO. Be patient with yourself & you'll pick up the moves, and boy does it feel satisfying when you do!!!

Franny also has some "signature" moves that took some time to learn as well & she is one of my favorites.

I know I'm a videoholic, but once I find an instructor I like I want everything they've done...so Franny shares the shelf with Christi. Cathe has several shelves of her own since she is number 1 in my book & the most prolific (and for this I am eternally grateful!!)

Not to discourage you... but I tried 2 CIAs and Christi - they are too complicated for me. I just don't want to think that hard when I am execising. Furthermore, I don't think they have the same intensity as Cathe workouts. What can I say -- I am just hooked on Cathe! Sometimes I think it's great that I have only one favorite instructor -- I know where I want to spend my money and not have tons of videos.

My favorite Christi tapes are the Stepping Zone and Still Steppin'--especially Still Steppin'which I have not grown tired of yet. I could only do parts 1 and 3 of her Step Heaven, and came close to injuring myself on part 2 so gave it up. I sold it recently with the Stepping Zone on ebay, the latter because I used it so much I became bored. I bought the Totally Cool Step tape and could do most of it after a few tries (I don't do all of her turns), but didn't think I was getting much of a workout in terms of heartrate and the sweat factor. I quickly sold it. I just bought two new step tapes--Kari Anderson's Hot Steps and Step Fever with Donna Read. I just did the Kari Anderson tape this morning. It's great!! And I think if you like Cathe, you will probably like Kari. She is slightly less intense (I usually can up my step to 8 inches after I learn her moves), but just a lot of fun--and easier than Christi. I haven't tried the Donna Read tape yet, but I liked one that she did for CIA (I usually can't do the CIA tapes--too difficult)and so will try this one. I also bought both of these tapes, because I like a solid hour of stepping and the Read tape also has some abs. I noticed that Cathe has Kari Anderson's tapes under her LINKS section, and she has a nice bunch of tapes, all of which I own and will not sell because I inevitably return to them after long retirements--also true of my Cathe step tapes.

I only have Christi's Step Heaven. If I learned it, you can too. The way I learned was slow motion(ing) through the steps I couldn't get easily. I would learn as a second workout because I didn't want to waste the workout time. I mean I would workout intensely to a tape I knew in the morning, then in the evening I'd learn Christi.

Good luck!

thanks:)

i wanted to thank those who replied.. i will keep trying with Christi's dvd.. but i won't use it as a workout.. (serious one) until i master those steps.. And as far as the CIA dvd i bought.. its for sale on fitprime/firm yaya's.. :).. I just ordered Kari's hot steps.. maybe i will like that..

thanx again

I usually love the CIAs that I get but this newest batch just didn't do it for me. I had 3 of them and have traded them away. I had Franny's which I love her workouts but this one just wasn't for me. Her Cardio Parties and older CIAs were much more complex. Christi's TCS I traded as well but her Still Stepping and Step Heaven are fantastic. They do take a few tries to get but what I like about Christi, she shows the less complex step and then leads you up to the fancy stuff. Sometimes I get it and if I don't I keep it at the easy stuff until I get it. One thing I've found out, if I concentrate too hard on getting the step, I won't. If I just go with the flow and not think about it, just listen to her cues, I get it. How weird is that. I do think Cathe's tapes aren't as complex but the intensity and impact make them the toughest around. Gotta love her. :)
