Any other Tudors fans out there?

I am sooo obsessed with the Tudors!! This will be the final Season sometime this Spring. I thought the first two Seasons totally rocked it. The third one seemed to lose some of it's umph. But who cares when you get to stare at Jonathan Rys Meyers for hour after hour!! Yummmmmmy!!

If you have watched it, which Queen do you identify with most and/or do you admire the most??

For grace personified, the first Queen Katherine of course (that's me on a good day!!)

For sheer seductive power and influence, Queen Anne (on a really good night!!:D )

For true, pure love for Henry, Queen Jane (Jane is my middle name so I'm biased!!)

Happy Saturday!! We got a foot of snow last night so we're just chillin' today. Having the girls over this evening for a chic flic and my famous Mediterranean pasta (whole wheat of course), salad, wine and chocolate!! Not necessarily in that order!! Chocolate and wine first, I think!! hehe

I Love, Love, Love the Tudors.

I have watched season 1 and 2 twice I think.

I like all the queens I guess. I loved the actress that played Anne.

I can't wait to see season 4. I will probably have to watch season 3 again.

When I first discovered this show season 1 and season 2 were on netflix. I could watch them instantly online. I watched for hours and loved it!!!

I hear ya gals!! I've re-watched Season 1 & 2 over and over again. Gonna get caught up on season 3 again very soon- I want to be ready for season 4!! Showtime has it on demands- sooo dangerous and delicious!!:D

can't wait for the new season

Love the tudors and agree with the Queen ranking.

I tend to be more of a Charles Brandon the Duke of Suffolk fan, Henry's best friend.

I liked Jane the best :) I thought she was very pretty, but I also thought that, historically, she was the only queen that Henry genuinely loved. Having said that, it didn't stop him having a bit of fun. I also like Ann of Cleaves, but I don't think the show did her justice. She was a great Queen, and tried to have influence over Henry... it didn't show so much in the series.

BUT it's goood for the eyes, the whole series :)

I love the tudors but solely for the eye-candy. I like the story as well but sometimes all the yelling gets to me...and then I look at the eye-candy. :)

gonna have to check this one out!

I have been reading Phillpa Gregory's novels about this era (so far the Boleyn Inheritance and the Other Boleyn) and this King and his Queens certainly would have made for interesting reality TV!!!
I'm always interested in a good storyline, but best paired with eye candy!

LOVE this show! Great acting, great writing, great production quality, and most of all, great story!

I personally liked the 2nd Queen Ann the most. She got everything she wanted without having to actually have a relationship w/the decrepit, overweight, festering slob. :p (of course we don't see that side of Henry in this series, thank goodness, JRM sure is purdy! ;))

Interestingly, someone got me the old 1970 PBS version for Xmas, & I was surprised to find the Showtime version is actually a remake of the PBS series. I mean, line for line.........the only differences being PBS's Henry looked much more like the original (although some of the actresses who played the queens look almost identical to Showtime's actresses) and, of course, budget--Showtime's version has a much bigger budget, so better sets & wardrobes.

I cannot wait for the new season to start!

Oh Julie, if you want to read some great books on this part of history, check out Allison Weir. Hers are nonfiction but so well written you barely even notice. :) She has some great books on other early English monarchs too.

I love the feedback!! The show is totally addicting and just ooolala with the elaborate and I'm guessing historically correct sets, the costumes are off the charts gorgeous! the actors are almost all too delicious eye-candy for sure!!

I'm going to check out the book recommendations you gals of sited!

Thanks and happy, happy Monday!!

Thanks for the suggestion Laura! I just found out that one of my cousins is studying this period as part of her Masters program and we had some interesting conversations...granted my interest is for entertainment and her's is for school :D

I am watching this series through Netflix; I am in season 2 now. I love any kind of historical fiction. I have read many histories on the English/Scottish/Spanish royal lineages because my family tree has been traced back to many of these lines.

It is amazing to me that anyone ever survived those times, given some of the conditions.
