Any men out there

This is the first Cathe series that I have purchased that I will faithfully use. All the choreographing was just too much for me as a guy. I'm excited about this one and can see that if you faithfully do it you could get really rather buff. Any other guys out there, let's connect so we can cheer each other on.

Thanks
Allen:)

Hi Allen,
Welcome to the forum.I have been doing Cathe workouts for years & I am in awesome shape. When I go back to the gym the guys in locker room say we haven't seen you in while but you looked ripped.I smile & say yes I have a personal trainer & I have been working out @ home.I am sure you will get great result from the upcoming STS series. You may want try Slow & Heavy series & Gym Styles (the strength ones). They are excellent.I also recomend Tony Horton PX 90
Cheers
Chris

Whats up Allen,

I am also excited about the STS workouts and i know i will use it faithfully. Ive been working out with Cathe workouts for years and have seen great results.

George

I haven't been using Cathe's DVD's for a year yet, but I have still seen great results! I also am choreograph-ically challenged, which is why I love Cathe's Kickbox workouts

Glad to see there are at least a couple of us guys here!

Guys,
I am so psyched now and can not wait to get started. I keep trying to figure out how I am going to justify that pull up bar, the step, and the slants to my wife after purchasing so much other fitness equipment.

Honestly did not expect any response to my e-mail. Totally psyched. Can we all touch base once we get the program and encourage each other at ;east though first round/

Thanks for responding guys,
Allen;-)

Not a guy here...but I am really hoping to get my husband to do the STS program. He lifts already, but I'd love to see him try the Cathe program with me.

Another Not-A-Guy here, Allen, but regarding justifying the equipment expenses to your wife (I have to justify mine to MY wife - ar ar - too sometimes, but not too often):

My personal take on it is that for every dollar you spend on productive fitness pursuits, be they classes or equipment or club memberships, you save at least $20-$30 in health care expenses down the road. And, for every minute you spend on productive fitness sessions, you save at least 20-30 minutes in a medical environment down the road. Some expenses are just that - expenses with not much to show for once the money is gone. Other expenses are investments, and investing in your fitness gives you one of the best ROIs around.

I'm on the fence about this series, due to some lower back issues. If I can get the clearance from my primary physician, I am going to strongly consider it!!

If not, I will be most happy with Cathe's other weight workouts. I think her no-nonsense approach to getting the job done will lead to more males doing her workouts, and maybe being a stronger voice on the forums.

Another guy here... on the other side of the Globe: Athens, Greece.

As soon as I resolved the shipping issue I went ahead and pre-ordered STS. I am a P90X graduate, but saw more results doing Cathe's Gym Styles, Slow & Heavy, Pure Strength and Pyramid DVDs. So there was really no question as to whether or not I would get STS! :)

I started doing Cathe last October (just a few days after I was diagnosed HIV+) and never let my illness get the best of me. I have been doing Cathe for the past 6+ months and feel better than ever! Even though my doctor insisted I should bring down the intensity of my workouts, I went the other way! LOL

As far as step workouts... I like the complication... keeps my mind engaged on things other than everyday worries for the 60 or so minutes.

Can't wait for STS!!!

Chris.

Annie and Annette,
With the high cost of health care that I pay for the family each week, I had not even thought of the proactive approach vs reactive approach that you recommend. Now it makes sense and the kid will find the $ for the whole shabang!!!!

Chris,
Man, I have so much respect for you. Keep it up guy. It is so good to hear how fitness really does so much for us in practical ways. It is also interesting that what is great for some is not for others. I do not care for Cathe's cardio for the reasons that you like it and that I when I work out, that is the only time of the day that I do not "want" to think. I really love that it aids to keep your mind engaged!!!

I got a e-mail from Cynthia for Cathe's organization(?)- shout out to you Cynthia. She told me that I could start a thread on Cathe's site just for my idea of Guys on STS (ha!). Will begin it when we all receive the series.
Thanks guys,
Allen

Not a guy either BUT just wanted to shout out a hello to you all and say WELCOME! It's great to hear male perspectives on the workouts. Allen, Cynthia is one of my best friends and I'm glad she invited you here. Have fun with STS and keep us posted on your results.

Hey Allen and all my other brothers out there! Oh yes...I can't wait for STS. I've been using Cathe programs for over a year now and they are an essential part of my workout regimen...I'm in better shape now at 40 than I have been in my whole life - Cathe's a big part of that.
My favs...slow and heavy, the pyramid series, and IMAX 1,2, &3.
Judging by the blog photos from STS - this is going to be a killer program. Check out how RIPPED Cathe and the crew got over the the course of filming!
Here's a thought...we should start a check-in/accountability thread for all the guys here. Who's up for it??
I'll be putting together some progress pictures once I start going through the cycles - anybody else want to join me??

Peace,
Keith

Hi guys,

Not a guy here, but just wanted to say that I'm glad you all have finely ventured out. Glad to see you!. Don't be strangers OK?

The idea is to die young as late as possible.

Keith,
Dude, I am so game for that!!!! What are our next steps? This format of "forumming" is new to me, but I am committed enough to get it going and keep it going. I need to pull all the Cathe's that I have and rotate them until the STS comes. I travel a lot so I will have to somehow get that laptop down to fitness rooms early each the morning before others rise. I can commit to doing that. I have forty pounds that I want (need) to lose permanently. I know that I can do it because I have done it before but I let life get in the way of my exercising. No exercising for me means no maintaining physique. This is truer to me that nutrition issue. This is fun already.

Accountability -- you got that right

Lets all keep talking. This is very motivating.
Allen

Allen,

I found a breakdown of Cathe's current DVDs using the STS format in another post and it makes sense...

- Muscle endurance DVDs (Power Hour, Muscle Endurance, Legs & Glutes, CTX, Super Sets, Push Pull)
- Hypertrophy training DVDs (Gym Styles, Pure Strength, Muscle Max, Maximum Intensity Strength, Pyramids, Body Max 2
- Strength training DVDs (4 Day Split, Slow & Heavy)

Also, check out FitnessFreak's rotations. They are tough and awesome!!!
I have just finished the 2nd week of the "Get ready for summer 2007" rotation (http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=7&topic_id=7210&mesg_id=7210&page=) - lots of kickboxing workouts in that one!LOL
Once this is done, I will move to her Strength Rotation (http://69.0.137.118/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=7&topic_id=4156&mesg_id=4156&page=2)

Cheers!
Chris.

NOT a guy (even though I have a guy's name!) But I wanted to say how thrilled I am to see you all post! It is great to hear your perspective -- I am hoping that once you guys get your "guy" thread going on STS it will help motivate my husband to give it a try with me! I think this thread you have going now might just get him to give Cathe's current workouts a try!

Thanks!!

Travis :)

Not-A-Guy Cathe cardio suggestions for guys (I consider myself an honorary guy in that I don't really get into complex cardio)

Boot Camp (on the same disc as Muscle Endurance from the Intensity Series)

Drill Max (from the untitled 2006 series)

4-Day Split Boot Camp (on the same disc as 4-Day Split Kickbox from Cathe's most recently released series)

Kick Max (from the Hard Core Series); get it for the Kick Max Blast Challenge - 15 minutes of nosebleed cardio / kickbox drills

Cardio Kicks (on the same disc as Circuit Max from Cathe's year 2000 series - released with the Cross-Train Express series); get it for the Power Drills segment, another 15 minutes of pure pain and joy

I-Max 2 (on the same disc as Cardio & Weights); get this for its Blast-Only premix; the blasts are much simpler choreographically speaking, but oh-so-tough

I-Max 3 (stand-alone workout); same benefits as I-Max 2

All of the above contain ultra high-intensity ultra low-complexity cardio drills, including plenty of plyometric work that has totally revolutionized my own athletic fitness.

Just a suggestion -

A-Jock

A-Jock,

Great list, I already own Kick Max, Boot Camp, and Drill Max....just pulled that one out the other day...wow!!

To that list allow me to add Kick, Punch, and Crunch, which was my intro to the world of Cathe, and it remains the best kickbox tape I've ever done, hands down!
