does any one have any good summer appetizer ideas? We're having a big BBQ on Saturday for my twins 5th bday with friends and family and wanted any good apps, does not have to be low fat etc. Just wanted to change up my repetoire!

Thanks,
Aggie

Watermelon wrapped w/ proscuitto. Sounds weird, but is yummy.

You could always make yourself one of the flower baskets made out of fruit, they are expensive to buy, but relatively easy to make w/ small cookie cutters.

Shoot, I am normally good w/ food questions. I am drawing a blank. If I think of something else, I'll be back!

Nan's watermelon-proscuitto combo reminded me that I'm dying to try these bacon-wrapped cherries. I can't quite imagine what they would taste like but they sound interesting. Maybe with a little piece of parmesean or walnut stuffed into the cherry?

This is one of my favs, and I really am not a fan of curry, but this is great. Also looks smashing served in the pineapple.

PINEAPPLE CURRY DIP
8 oz. cream cheese
1/4 c. chutney
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. curry powder
1 fresh pineapple
Toasted almonds
Crackers

Mix cream cheese, chutney, mustard and curry. Chill for 4 hours. Halve pineapple. Do not cut off leaves. Hollow out and save pineapple chunks for salad or dessert. When ready to serve, fill pineapple with cream cheese mix and top with almonds. Serve with plain crackers.

Pretty, yummy and easy: take cherry tomatoes and boccocini mozzarella - cut all in half. Place on skewers: tomato half, torn basil leaf, mozz half, repeat. Pile skewers on place. Sprinkle with sea salt and fresh ground black pepper, drizzle with a bit of balsamic and some really good olive oil. That's it.

Jalapano Poppers

jalapanos (cut in half like boats, seeded)
cream cheese (I use soy)
bacon (I use turkey)

stuff peppers with cream cheese, wrap with bacon and secure with a toothpick, grill on low/medium (watch for flare ups!) till bacon is done...YUMMO!!!!

I saw Bobby Flay do a variation of this using soft goat cheese and roasted corn, minus the bacon. Sounds good!

Gazpacho! Cool and refreshing!

There are recipes for this from two of us in that forum.
