Any different to work out in AM and PM vs doing all in one session?

Dear All,

I saw some ladies here separate their work out into AM and PM. Any benefits compared it with working out all in one session?

Thanks

YES! Separating my cardio from my weight training makes me much stronger with weights. I never realized it until I split the two, but I broke through a 7 year plateau when I did & finally managed to increase my weights. I had no idea how much cardio drained me until I separated it.

I've heard that doing cardio in the morning will cause you to lose more bodyfat than later in the day. And I also would do cardio and the AM and weights in the PM.

Theoretically you are able to lift more wieghts in the late afternoon because of your hormones. Your metabolism is also the highest in the late afternoon/early evening so working out at that time really boosts your calorie burning. I like to think of working out in the am as kicking metabolism off and wo in pm as kicking calories butt!

Thanks, ladies. Your information is very helpful.

Since I did not get home until 6:00pm. By the time I finish putting little guy to sleep and helping homework with my older one. It's around 9:00pm. Will it be considered too late for weight workout?

I did find it is very hard to combine really good aerobic workout with nice weight lifting. No matter how I rotate them, (aerobic first, weight second or weight first aerobic second), I am exhausted by the time I finish one thing. I like the idea to separate them. But just hesitate working around 9:00pm might put me up all night long...x(

Thanks

Try the 9 pm weight workout and see. Weight workouts don't keep me up late, usually (I have even done them at 10 pm), but aerobic ones definitely do. I think it is an individual thing.

If you do cardio in the morning it does really kick start your metabolism, and if you do weight in the evening you are able to lift more due to hormones, as well as another metabolism hit, so your doing a double up on your metabolism this way. You hit it in the morning and get it running hard, and then in the late afternoon/evening you do weights and push it up some more. It's been recorded that when people do this, they can burn an extra 2-300 calories a day, not including what you burned in your workouts just that's how much more your metabolism raises from boosting it twice. Which is another very nice benifit.

I do cardio every day from 4-5 in the morning. Mon-Wed and Fri I do weight workouts anywhere between 1 in the afternoon and 6 p.m.. For some reason I like my weight workouts to be in the afternoon.

Thank you all for your feedback. I will try it starting tomorrow. I could not anything today because my poor little one did not go to sleep until 5:00am this morning due to his teething and growing spur.
