Another question about the thigh rocker

I need to know if using this machine puts any stress on your lower back. My back is "out" right now. I'm trying to get it corrected. But I NEED to work my legs, but squats and lunges are out for a while.

I would just love to hear that I could use this!!!

Thanks!

Did your dr tell you that it was ok to take walks? Move around doing chores? The rocker can be that easy--keep it simple!Focus on lower body! You have to align your body on the backrest which is easy to do and comfortable!Press against it firmly holding onto the bars tightly so that you don't move around and squat putting all your pressure on your heels! Don't overload the bands! You'll feel it immediately in your quads--if you start to feel like you can't keep proper alignment (fidgeting)from doing too many squats then stop and call it a day! You can still be in action with this puppy! I don't know what your back problem is but rolling like a ball is great for your spine! Do some pilates and supermans to keep it strengthened and mobile! Hope you get better soon!Your friend in fitness~~Francine

Thank you SO much Francine!! I don't know what I did to my back. I look like a hula dancer that got stuck. My hips go one way and my shoulders go another.

The Dr. said I could do what ever did not cause pain. I have been doing lots of low back exercies for a few years. Right now those are the things that cause me pain. Funny, I thought I was immune to back problems because of the exercises. I plan to start them again ASAP. He did tell me to wait another week to run.

Where did you get your machine? I think it's just what I need.

Thanks again!

My husband bought it for me on the home shopping network(HSN) for Mother's day last year! If you have a BJ's wholesale near you they sell them for $69.99! You can also check out www.bodybyjake.com to buy---Modells sporting goods--Dicks Sporting goods---at Kmart Jakes brother sells a similar item called bun and thigh isolator(same concept) for $99.99---this one don't have the handle bar I believe though! When you check out the body by jake site you can find out what other stores sell his rocker that might be in your area! I love it! Every woman should have one!Your friend in fitness~~Francine

Thank you again.........

You have been so helpful! I need to check the web site. I'm afraid I may not have any stores close to me.

Now the hard part is waiting for it!

Do you still do traditional leg work also?

Thanks again!
Susan

RE: Thank you again.........

I'll jump in here as a real fan of the B&TR. I have not done "traditional" leg work since I got it, except I add 3 sets of leg extensions and walking lunges to my workout. It saves so much time, and works SO much better, ON ME, anyway. I'm sure everyone is different, but I never responded very well to barbell and dumbbell workouts for legs. I'm going to order Cathe's new tapes, but don't know that I'll use them for myself, but keep them as a reference tool.

The first time I ever went to a personal trainer, she recommended using just weight machines on my legs because they are a real problem area for me. I have mushy quads and inner adductors that are very slow to respond.

RE: Thank you again.........

Hey I heard some bad news(hopefully a rumor) about the bun and thigh rocker! Jake will no longer be manufacturing it! I knew something was fishy when I started to see more of the bun and thigh isolator from his brother--especially at Kmart--also it's by Thane-www.thanefitness.com you can see that product there---same concept and meal plan too! Jake's promoting his new total body trainer now--so it seems to me that he is passing on this product---(It's still available though through--www.bodybyjake.com, ebay and other stores! I checked the website and couldn't find the store listings or the item on HSN but I have a few stores that I sent to someone before! They are :Academy, Big 5, Garts, Sport Mart, Kleins, MC Sports, Modells, and Sports Authority --also check your phonebook and call local sporting goods stores!--To answer your question about doing traditional leg work---I personally love good old fashioned floor work--my fanny lifter for step ups--my bench for leg curls and hamstring curls--I have a trainer that has a leg press& inner and outter thigh with resistance and a butt blaster on it-and a pilates performer and of course the Bun and thigh rocker! So It depends on what goals that I have set for the next 8 weeks to determine what type of leg circuits I will be doing! Keep in mind that when things aren't going according to plan that day and its a leg day--I'll improvise and do my BTR on limited time still knowing that I got an effective workout! Good luck on your BTR hunt---don't wait call now to get started! You won't be disappointed! Take care!Your friend in fitness~~Francine
