Another fashion question??

Cathlete
I am wearing a black business suit to a symposium that my DH and I are speaking at next week. I bought a killer pair of black high heel pumps to go with the outfit. Here's the question:

Do I wear hose or not??? I have seen so many magazines with bare feet in pumps that I am inclined to go that direction, but I am not quite sure....

Thanks for the assistance, this could keep me up at night ! :+

OK, I will vote!! I would wear hose for two reasons:
1. It is a business suit and you are speaking.
2. When it doubt, do what you think is the best bet and the fact that you are sure makes me think you would be more comfortable in front of others in hose.

Just my two cents...Do what you would feel most comfortable doing!

PS - GOOD LUCK!!!!! That is great!

I agree 100% with Lauramax. Skirt suits need hose.

(ETA: BTW, with a black skirt suit and black shoes, you need black sheer hose, not "nude".)

Good luck with your speech!

Thanks all, I appreciate the votes of confidence.

I am wearing a pants suit, but I think knee highs are in order then. I hate wearing hose under pants!

My DH is an MS patient ( as alot of you already know), and we have really developed a wonderful relationship with his neurologist. Being that we are based at the Cleveland Clinic, which is foremost in the field of MS research, we have been able to be on the cutting edge of all the latest treatments, etc. We are looking forward to an interesting day educating these doctors from around the country. I told my DH it will be nice to speak with these people without wearing hospital gowns that leave your "hiney" ( that was for Cathe ;-)) exposed!:7

I will keep that in mind, isn't it goofy how that stuff can drive you up a tree, yet important decisions can be made without a blink of an eye!?:+

Ahhhh NO NO NO NO - don't wear hose!

If your in a pantsuit and not a skirt business suit - your hardly going to even see the pantyhose in the pumps and that defeats the purpose of pumps!

Maybe its my generation but doing that is very out of style ( IMO ) I am 27 - and most of my friends range from 27-36 years of age and they never EVER wear the pantyhose under a pantsuit even in wintertime, well then its boots - - omg do what you want though - but I LOVE the look of sexy pumps sticking out of a business suit! Its hot!

Run, but you have a long black silhouette, which continues into a slinky black shoe, rudely interrupted by a patch of nude skin. If your skin is pale, it discontinues the line, I think, breaking up the smooth blackness and causing the eye to focus on the nude area. The black SHEER knee highs still show the foot, and you can still see the shoe, but it just makes the line flow a bit better.

Also, don't you get blisters when you wear a pump without hose?

However, I will admit I may be a bit old-fashioned. I STILL don't get the whole flip-flop thing and the whole crocs thing. But I like to think good taste never goes out of style. Can you find a pic of what you're talking about? That might help.

I've got to agree with Run. I think this is generational.
I'm 30 and have been in a corporate office environment since 22....have never worn hose unless it's a skirt.

I'll wear trouser stockings in the winter for warmth on my legs...

But, your pants should come to at least the instep of your shoe/pump/boot. You should not see the whole foot or ankle. JMO, but think that stockings under pants with heels (in the summer) looks dated.

And example of what I'm referring to:

You can get a better view if you blow up the picture...

Mel, I definitely agree with you about open-toe shoes like in the picture. I don't like the look of hose with open-toe shoes either.

Exactly! :)

Someone had mentioned wearing black hose, not nude. That's what I mean by looking dated with a pants suit in the summer.

I have to agree with the posters who said either no hose, or nude hose if your shoes aren't comfortable with bare feet. And just knee highs, not full pantyhose. Blech.

Mel, I'm pretty pasty, so that's kind of how black SHEER hose looks on me. About 10 shades darker than my hands, but still nude-ish.

Can some young'un explain to me how you can walk around all day wearing pumps (a fully closed shoe) without hose without getting blisters?

>Dunno. I did it on Monday and I was fine. It's all in the
>shoe, I guess. Oh, sorry, I'm not a young 'un:p
>

LOL! Shelley, compared to me, everybody is a young'un!
