Another fashion question??

I say it's up to you to wear pantyhose or not (I would do knee-highs) if the shoes are CLOSE TOED. If they are open-toed, there is nothing less-fashionable and more out of style than pantyhose with open toes shoes. If you're wearing a skirt and must wear ho's--wear close toed shoes.

Yes the NEiman Marcus is a good example :)

I have TONS of pumps and have NEVER worn hose or even knee highs underneath - )

I have tons of comfy pumps - some are better than others imo

Enzo ( very comfy and great sales )
Steve Maddens

BCBG can be uncomfy but if your narrow in the foot they may work well for you :)

Good luck!

I admit - even in business suits ( skirt types ) I NEVER wear hose! In the summer/spring I pair them with pumps and in the winter - go with the classic knee high boot - )

Its probably generational but I don't get the hose :)

Yes - wear hose because you are a speaker. I would not suggest black hose, however, unless it is an evening function (I am assuming your symposium is during business hours). We're not far enough into cold weather to wear black during the day (at least in DC). A sheer nude would be your best bet.

Also, wear a little more makeup than you normally do since the lights directed towards the speaker tends to wash you out.

I am so envious that you can speak publicly. I hate it with a passion and avoid it at all costs! Knock 'em dead!

I also have very white, pasty skin. I am a nurse and I have to wear knee highs to work. (while wearing pants). I love the look without nylons on ladies who have nice smooth skin. But I am so white, you can even see my veins. It looks really funny on me. Plus, you can see my pores on my legs from when I shave too. It just doesn't look good on me. I am 35. Any suggestions?

Jennifer

My general rule of thumb is no hose w/open toed shoes, hose w/close toed pumps.

However, I never wear pumps with pants, only with skirts. With pants I typically wear some kind of high heeled loafer or slip on with thin trouser socks. Maybe that'll solve this conundrum for you? :p

Hey Conni-

I have MS, too. Hope your husband is doing okay - it can be pretty rough sometimes (as if I need to tell you!).

Best,
Liz

Okay, now what do I do?????

I have to admit I was leaning towards the no hose thing, but Nancy had me thinking it was okay for hose, now I am in a quandry again!!!

Here is the deal, this is a pant suit that is long, I know my feet will barely be seen, and that is only if I sit down. I want to look trendy though, which I have a tendency to do anyways, if you knew me, but I just want to go with whatever the fashion police think here. I have to admit that it is interesting how many different opinions there are on this subject!!:+

Hi Liz,

I am sorry to hear we have this situation in common, it is an evil disease, isn't it?

Feel free to PM if you ever want to just rant, rave, or talk. ( And it doesn't have to be about shoe fashion):7

Conni, I am sooo sorry to confuse you. I really thought you were talking about a skirt suit initially. For a pants suit, I don't think it matters much. Whatever you choose will be fine, as long as you feel physically comfortable. If your feet hurt, it will show on your face. So the most important thing is just to have happy feet. :D

Knock 'em dead! And I'd love to see pics of you making your speech if there are any. :D

It had better be, the things are 4 inches high!

I love high heels!!

Nancy - I will see if pics are taken, I am not sure how Doctors feel about normal "folk" talking at them, much less having it photographed, lol!!

Well there ya go - problem solved - no hose or nude stockings :)

I am sure you will hit it out of the park! :)

And for the person who posted on the really white skin - its fine - natural skin is in - pasty and all!!! Ex: Gwenyth Paltrow - very fair skin and she is always wearing NOTHING with her pant suits and dresses and skirts -)

If you have veins you are covering up than go with the nude in a light color....

Holy moly, 4 inches! I'd be dying within 30 minutes!

Good luck Conni--I'm sure everyone will be so riveted by your speech they won't even notice what's on your feet! :)

I am against black hose with a skirt. I think nude would be much better. With pants, I don't think it really matters. Oops, I see now that it is a pants suit.

You know, I've been browsing fashion on the internet and the nude really does look nice on the young women. I think young women today tend to be a bit taller. When I wear black pants, nude feet and black shoes I look shorter, which I can't afford, because I'm already short enough. But the models look lovely with the nude hose, and it does show off their shoes nicely.

Have you guys seen all the black tights everywhere? I really don't want to go back to that look again. So bottom heavy IMHO.

Yeah I noticed the nude hose trend about a year or so ago. Didn't like it at first but after getting used to it I think it looks good.

But I'm with you Nancy, they somehow make me look cut off at the knees. I'm not too against black tights--I think they look good with a high boot & are warmer for winter, but I remember wearing them w/flats & I don't think I'll ever do that again, no matter what the fashionistas say!

And here's hoping the tights remain black. I remember them coming in all kinds of colors during the '80s. Ick! I work w/one woman who wears patterned tights. A less flattering look I have never seen. The clunky shoes don't help either.

OHHHHH. I love the black tights. I wore them all last winter. They keep you toasty and are slimming, at least for me. Also, I am really looking for a cute plaid skirt for this winter. I've seen a bunch in magazines lately.
