An unplanned fitness break - it's a good thing!

Cathlete
Hey there,

So, I've read on the thread about the dread of refusing to take a break (sounds kind Dr. Seussish)... sorry,

Ahem, so, I've read about how important it is to take a few days/weeks here and there. I had it in my head not to "cave" and take a rest before the SD RT- determined to be at the top of my game! . Well, last week got away from me with a surprise out of town visitor, my son's school stuff, and other day-to-day things that took over. I worked out quite inconsistantly. I started up again today and felt FANTASTIC!!! I did Butts & Guts this morning which had started to hurt too much and I was too tired to complete the workout before this break. I also still had energy to do another 30 min of cardio this afternoon.

I realized that my body appreciated and clearly NEEDED a short breather. Get over yourself, Pam!!! Listen to your body and obey!!! It's not totally arrogance but unbridaled determination that can become detrimental to all levels of your health if you don't just stop and rest and breathe once in a while. Come on, take a deep breath with me!

I feel even more inspired and energized to workout more powerfully tomorrow and most importantly TO ENJOY IT!! So, my darling fellow Cathletes, let's remember to enjoy our workouts and be thankful at how faithfully our bodies have served us- despite the occassional slip up. Afterall, do we berate or get angry with our children when they slip and fall or don't live up to our expectations?? Heck no!! We pick them up, hug them and inspire them to go on!!! Love yourself as you love your children (or SO's or pets!!).

Hugs to all of you!

Pam

What a nice post!

Off topic - How was your son's birthday party?! Was the magician a hit? You got me thinking of hiring one for my other daughter's party in May!:) Our slumber party was great fun, but short on sleep. those little buggers slept from 11PM - 5AM! My girls ended up falling asleep at 10:45AM! LOL!

Hey Chefkate!!

Oh my gosh!! The Magician was awesome!! He was very funny and even the adults were rolling in the aisles... well, in the living room at least! Totally worth it! He was very kid-friendly and goofy as all get out. Best of all- and you will appreciate this... he kept the kids occupied for the entire 45 minute magic show and then while Randy opened his pressies and the kids had cake and ice-cream, the magician made balloon animals!! I highly recommend it!!

Ohhh- bless your heart with the anti "slumber" party!! It brings back memories of giggle fests and gossip and goofiness with the girls... oh wait- that was our last chic-flic night! hahaha!!

So, girlfriend, it was great to hear from you!! Hope you have recovered from the slumber party and the lost hour of sleep with the clocks Springing forward. It was tough getting up on time this morning! Yaaawwwwnnnn!

Sweet dreams!!

Well said Pam! Our bodies need a bid of recuperation from the constant poundings (as well as everyday stress). And they are able to do more if you give them a bit of downtime, now and then.

Looking forward to meeting you in Cali, soon! Hard to believe, it is less than a week away!

Hi Kim!!

Yeahhhh!! Yet another awesome Cathlete I get to meet in person! Won't it be funny if we knew each other from a previous school, job, etc.. ?? Is this your first road trip also??

I sooo can't wait and my son is equally excited!! He's soo proud of his mommy being an "offical" Cathlete! We are also going to see some friends we haven't seen since we moved from SD five years ago. the kids were barely three at that time and now are these huge seven year olds!!

We are arriving early to see them and other friends and of course to go to Legoland.

Can't wait to meet you!!

Pam

As I haven't been able to work out in a week and really want to, I have to say, everytime I see the title of this thread, I wince. Unplanned fitness breaks when you're sick suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pam ~

Only a couple of days away! Whoop!

A friend found out I was flying to San Diego for a Cathe "Road Trip". She is such a fan, and adjusted her plans so she can come too! We will be flying into Long Beach, and driving down from there.

As far as previous lifetimes... Originally, I am from Randle (a small Washington State town). I was a flight attendant for 16 years with American Eagle (based all over the country, mostly Texas). I now live in Virginia (with my dear honey).

This will be my first "Road Trip", but I have been to other instructor's fitness camps. Since I live so close to Newark (3 hours), I need to do a real road trip and take one of Cathe's classes her at home.

I am very excited! Cathe is most definitely an idol, and she really seems down-to-earth. It is always great to be surrounded by fitness-minded people (we don't get very much of that around here). See you, soon!

~ Kim
