Amy Bento

Oh, I just wanted to add that I tried Christi Taylor quite a few years back.... b/c everyone ADORED her......I could not stand her. Personal preferences. :p

I've noticed that Amy cues better on Kickbox Surge. I picked it up pretty quickly, and I can't say that about any of her other workouts.

I'm determined to learn ASC2 and ASC3...

Kathryn - ASC3 is much easier to learn than ASC2. I don't think you'll have a problem. She does more kickbox type moves in ASC3.

I like Amy's step. My problem with all step is that after I do them a time or two, all of the repetion becomes BORING!! I get tired of doing the same thing over and over again to get it down. (Do I really need 4 repeats of a repeater - seriously?). I tend to take Cathe's finished products and string them together - like the combo from RS followed by the combos from SB, followed by the Bonus section on BMax 2... I'll toss Amy's finished combo's in as well.

I will say, when I first got 4DS, I HATED the step and about killed myself doing it. HIS I did once, and vowed never to do again. After doing Amy and Seasun Zeigler (who I adore as well - Rock Steady Step is one of the most fun step workouts I have ever done and the only one I HAVE to do the 6" step), I decided to do a 4DS rotation as is. HIS was EASY! I kept thinking, "Oh, the next combo will be tough..." but it never was. So, there is something to be said for some of the more complex step. Makes us appreciate Cathe more. :D

I don't think Amy's choreography is all that complex. It actually looks fun, but complex or basic, it still needs to be properly cued for me. A basic combo can be dangerous if the cues are late and I'm are always half a step behind trying to play catch up.

Well, Amy's cue's properly for me. I don't find her reckless either. I like the way she strings cues together and I can just listen to the tunes and workout! If I called every instructor on "bad" form, I'd have no one left to workout to, so I plan on enjoying the variety out there for many years to come!!!

I couldn't care less about her form (or lack of) , I"m intelligent enough to know proper form on any type of cardio. I want GOOD music, FUN challenging moves and Amy fits the bill.[/quote]

Well said, music is so important to a good workout. Why are workouts accepted as good only if they have a dread factor, endless repetitions and you end up looking like you want to kill someone?

Count me in as someone who absolutely adores Amy's workouts. Her music is the best, her enthusiasm in contagious and her choreo is so worth the learning curve. Once you've master ASC 2, other step workouts pale in comparison IMO. Amy's Hi Lo Cardio Knockout is still one of my absolute faves for moves, music and sheer sweaty glory. :D I don't agree that she's reckless, any more than Cathe might be for having people jump over a step or do fast foot repeaters during her workouts.

As far as her kickboxing form, Cathe's early Kbx workouts aren't exactly stellar examples of form either. I assume Amy's will get better w/ time (like Cathe did), but in the meantime, I know proper form so I don't worry about hers. Some people have commented that her kickboxing is too hi-lo-ish (is that a word??). Cathe puts ample hi lo moves (sashays, grapevines, airjacks, windmills, etc.) in all of her kickbox workouts and I never saw those at my kids' dogo. :p

I also appreciate Amy's stellar customer service and her willingness to give timely updates on her filming schedule if there are hiccups in plans. Like many others, I was disappointed that she had to shelve her forthcoming series because of complications w/ her pregnancy, but loved that she her shared her wonderful news and photos of her wedding. Like Cathe, Amy is a sweetheart in person too. :)

There are many instructors that I don't click w/ and even instructors I love sometimes put out workouts that I don't click w/. I'm glad there's so much variety out there for home exercisers and I'm very glad I found out about Amy's workouts.
