Perkiness and Whooping
I like instructors who are perky but not too chatty. I do like instructors who talk a lot, but I want to hear encouragement and form pointers (not idle chatter). Funny remarks that make me laugh are always welcome. I appreciate a good sense of humor. I love Jen’s personality, but Leslie and Denise are too much for me. I love Cathe’s personality, but I watched clips of Amy’s new workouts and think she is a bit too hyper for my taste too. Perkiness and whooping are like salt and pepper. The right amount enhances the flavor, but too much is overkill. Of course, the “right amount” is a matter of personal taste. Cathe in IMAX2 is just the right amount of whooping for my taste. That is a “whoop worthy” workout, and I am right there with her. :7 I love Cedie and never notice her whooping in Boot Camp. I am very passionate and excitable. I can be very hyper myself at times. I think that is why instructors who are more balanced appeal to me. I am drawn to warmth and encouragement for sure. Not clinical. Not hyper. Just energetic and enthusiastic without driving me nuts! Is that too much to ask?!
I have read that Amy is planning to edit out some of the whooping and raise the volume of the music in her hi-lo workout. That is the only one I might possibly be interested in anyway. I will still wait for a video clip and reviews. Hopefully, Collage will carry it as well so I can send it back if it is not my cup of tea. As I wrote in my earlier post, there is a lack of good floor aerobics workouts these days. It would be nice to find someone to provide them. Cathe favors step workouts, and Kari Anderson is not planning to film any new workouts as far as I know. For right now, I have my hands full with Cathe, Kari, and Jen. :7
I just bought Power Max last month. I have only done it once, and I have not been drawn to it again. I did not notice the whooping. It was all those lunges in the warmup that got me!
There are a lot of fun moves in Power Max. Cathe spends more time breaking down the choreography in this workout, and it is not as complex as Rhythmic Step (my personal favorite). I was ready to cry over no mambos, cha chas, or pivot turns. Thankfully, she cools down with a Latin section that includes some of these and is a lot of fun to do. It is actually my favorite part of the whole workout! I had fun doing the 360s too! What a super fun move! The ponies with the party arms are fun too. Actually, it has a lot of fun moves. It is just different and will take some time for me to adjust to the style. I would like it better with IMAX2 music. I am also very visual, and Cathe’s newer sets are much more appealing to me. I prefer her personality and relaxed camera presence in her newer videos (from the Slow and Heavy Series forward). Power Max is a great workout without a doubt, but Cathe has definitely gotten better (and more beautiful!) through the years. I feel the same way about Kari Anderson and Jen Carman too. I think I would actually use Power Max a lot more often if I had it on DVD. It would be fun to do the step segment of Step, Jump, & Pump then add on my favorite Power Max combinations. Okay, I am going to check out the Power Max whooping now. ;-)
Blessings,
