American Idol...now can we talk?

That's funny, Sara. I never watched AI until this year, yet even I've heard of Clay Aiken, and I've never heard of Reuben!

Your 10 year old is funny!

I really, really thought Bo had it in the bag. I was shocked that Carrie won. Bo was clearly so much more talented!

My theory, after thinking about it last night, is that all of the "teenage" votes that were going to Vonzell, went to Carrie after Vonzell was eliminated. It makes perfect sense.

Still, Bo will do well and go far. He'll be another Clay Aiken. I was SO bummed season before last when Clay lost. Little did I realize at the time, that this isn't always a bad thing. When you have undeniable talent like both Clay and Bo have, you still will end up making it. I wouldn't be surprised if Bo outsells Carrie with his CD.

I think you're right about Carrie walking away with the tween and teen vote. My daughter voted for Carrie numerous times. Even though I loved Bo, I can't help but be relieved that someone like Carrie Underwood is out there making a big name for herself. When Simon looked at her and said, "Every teenage girl in America is looking at you and wanting to BE you right now," I looked over at my daughter and thought, "yeah, what a refreshing role model for you to have in Carrie, when compared to what's out there with the likes of Britney Spears, Christina Agu. . . .whatever her last name is, etc. etc." While Bo may have won over the thirty-somethings hands down, I think it's good that a fresh, MODEST girl is in the limelight for young girls to look up to. (Now I just hope Carrie just doesn't go hog wild and change!)

Sarah

(Now I just hope
>Carrie just doesn't go hog wild and change!)

Like Kelly Clarkson,, going blond and skinny, and now looking like everyone else.

To those of you who watched the whole thing, why did Ryan say that the annoucement of the next AM was going to make history (or something to that effect). As if something were about to happen that hadn't happened before (3 times before!)? Did he ever say anything about how far apart the votes were (I was thinking maybe the winner won by a landslide, and that's what was precedent breaking?).

I think Ryan was referring to the fact that the number of votes AI had this year far exceeded the number of votes from previous years, hence the winner was making TV history.

Good point about the teenage vote, JeanneMarie, and good point about Carrie being a good role model, Sara. I agree with both points.

Actually Kelly lost weight. She was more during the AI.

UGh.. Very disapointed. I just did not like Carrie... just to stiff for me. Made me sick how the judges all "knew" I really wonder AI is tracking things and if the one they want is losing just starts voting like crazy.

I can't believe it's not fixed.

Agree Clay did better than Rueben by far and sure Bo will. Wasn't crazy about Fantasi. Like Kelly a lot :)

>Didn't Kelly actually gain weight sfter winning? I thought I
>remembered her getting a bit plump.
>
>Terri

Maybe right afterwards. I don't know. But now, she's "skinny and blond." I thought she was at a healthy weight before, and a good role model for girls. Guess everyone can change!

Honestly, I think Carrie has a "better instrument", that being said, I often felt that she was singing AT me, not To me...

Bo sings TO his audiance. It is obvious that he has had a ton of experience with bands, being on the road, recording etc...

I really enjoyed the color of Bo's voice...kind of dirty, yet could sing fluid enough to sing a ballad. Something many rockers cannot do. I feel ultimately that Bo is a better performer and can handle different genre's of music ( probably because he's been giging for EVER)better. Experience is a great teacher, something that Carrie needs desperately and once gotten will simply Fly!:)

I love Carrie!! The whole season I was rooting for her and Bo, hoping they would be the final two. It was so hard to pick one of them over the other, although I seemed to lean towards Carrie.

I decided that if it came down to the last day and I could vote for Carrie, that I would. It was late at night and my husband and I were giggling as we called in. It felt so silly, but we did it.

Yippee! She won and I can't wait for her album! I can't wait for Bo's either, but I just love her voice.

To those who think Bo is cocky and sure of himself:

I think you may have misread him by about a mile. He is not cocky. He is quite humble. He was just thankful to have made it to the final 12. He always - ALWAYS - acknowledged the band and made sure to point to them after every performance. He even said that he coud've been voted off weeks ago and he would have been grateful for the experience. He writes his own music; he plays his own music; he loves to sing and perform; and he was doing it before American Idol even came along. To be on Idol was just a wonderful way for him to experience his dream and gain large-scale audiences.

Oh, and did you notice that at the end of the show yesterday after Carrie had been announced the winner, and the crowd's applause began to subside...who was it I saw rallying the crowd back up to continue cheering for Carrie? Answer: Bo. He stood aside and held his arms out in her direction, then gestured for the crowd to keep up the applause. That is not a cocky person in my book. That is a gracious, humble, and respectful person who looks happy to have shared the journey with her.

Besides, Bo will do better without the American Idol folks pulling his strings. Truth be told: I don't think Bo wanted to win. He is smart and knew that if he won, he'd have to play by Idol's rules instead of his own. He'd have been locked into THEIR contracts instead of the ones HE felt would fit him better. He already knows the music business well enough to navigate through it...Carrie has a great voice, but Idol will definitely benefit her more than Bo.

Agree with you. Yes I think Bo will do fine without AI but as you say Carrie will benefit from it more. Also yes I don't think he'd be happy with doing it their way.

I was cheering for carrie all the way... but hey I just like her and we have lived in Oklahoma since 1992.... with that said....
GO CARRIE :7

I like both of them very much. Bo will do just fine even though he didn't win. Carrie held her own definitely. She is younger and much less experienced in front of an audience than Bo is so I am sure her stage presence will come with experience.

I typically don't like most female singers because of the high pitched "whinniness" (is that a word?) of their voices, but I think Carrie has great range. I just hope someone writes her some good solid songs that aren't too sappy and cheesy like most female artists tend put out there. I certainly hope the song writers will take advantage of her amazing vocals because she definitely has them!

Bo, what can I say. He is amazing. Great stage presence, very humble, and very talented. I will likely buy his CD before I would Carrie's. But I do think they both have amazing careers ahead of them.

Here's to Bo and Carrie!:7

Oh, by the way, hubby bought us tickets tonite to the "Idols Concert Tour" that's how much he was into Bo and company :)

Actually, from what I understand, all 12 finalists already have a contract with AI, which they sign the moment they become finalists. Maybe AI releases some of them from the contract when they don't win? So they can't totally control what they want to do. But I agree with you, and so does Randy Jackson! He said it's better for BO to come in second, because he would otherwise be forced to tone down his rocker style to make it more acceptable to a wider audience (as THE American Idol). (And if you win, you could be stuck with crappy songwriters like Reuben is--unless it's just his bad taste at picking songs. But then again, you could get good songs, like Kelly Clarkson.)

I really wanted Bo to win but I'm happy for Carrie. I just felt that Bo has more connection with the audience. His performance with Lynard Skynard was fantastic. This season was more fun to me because of the rockers, they added more energy to the competition.

I also have to say that Mikayla annoys the heck out me. In fact, I found her irritating on the red carpet. OTOH, that Matt guy was great as a host - witty and charming!

I was thinking the same thing. Now that makes me think if it is fixed? They will both do great, but I did feel sort of bummed that Bo didn't win. I like just about any kind of music, so I kind of was rooting (sp?) for both of them.

Did anyone else find that Bo got more and more physically attractive as the weeks went on? By the last few weeks, he was downright dishy. And I'm not usually even attracted to younger men, but he had it going on. There's definitely something about that guy.

It's because (in my opinion) that his hair grew a few inches and he let his beard get a little scruffy! I agree ~ he was downright HOT at the end! Those eyes! Gorgeous!!

Edited to say ~

That being said, however, I DO hope that he will go with the flow when he ages and groom himself by cutting his hair. I hope he does NOT follow in the footsteps of his idols because those Lynard Skynard guys did NOT look hot! They looked downright pitiful!
