AM workout-not too intense?

Good morning all:

I would love to start doing a low impact-fun workout early in the morning (5am). My body couldn't handle Cathe that early just yet. Any suggestions on a good low impact workout that I can do to get myself started in the morning?

Thanks,
Marcia.

Leslie Sansone's walking tapes are great for this as are most of Kathy Smith's workouts. Gin Miller is also slightly less intense than Cathe, but more intense than Leslie or Kathy Smith.

Great ideas! I was thinking about using a Cathe tape, but just no step and see how that goes????

I so desperately want to workout in the morning, but I just can't seem to get this old body moving!

Marcia.

I know what you mean about getting the old body movingx( :-( I've been having problems with my hip lately that make a Cathe step w/o d@mn near impossible. I started using Leslie Sansone DVD's a while ago. Her w/o's come nowhere near Cathe in difficulty, but they're good enough. They'll get the job done and you can easily up the intensity if you want to.

Sometimes I split up my w/o's and do a 2 mile walk in the morning and another 2 or 3 miles in the evening. Leslie's coming out with a 5 mile walk in 2006 so I'm looking forward to that.

I also have a Kathy Smith kickbox w/o and that's good too. Again--it's geared toward a beginner.

I love how I feel all day if I get up early and exercise before work. Very energized and self righteous. But does that mean I get up and exercise? NO. If I know I can't work it in during the evening, I may set the alarm clock, and get up early to work out, but no more than once or twice a week.

I have always worked out in the morning when my energy is good. However you gotta work into it! I think Cathe's Kick Punch Crunch cardio portion (first 35 or so minutes) is a good one. You can make many of the moves low impact. I usually follow that with the abs section and then my own extra long stretch. If you are up to it doe the whole thing.

Other than that Tae Bo work outs (the Advanced Live Tapes are really the best) are good choices. Also any yoga or Pilates. I am partial to Bryan Kests Energize-Strenth-Tone series.

Marcia, aren't you 35?! That's NOT old! I also exercise early in the morning. For me, it's mind over matter. I just make myself do it. Maybe you could try C&W or PP. Lighter weights are used so you're not straining so much.

Well, I'm a morning person, so working out in the AM is no hardship for me. But, I have had mornings where I needed something softer (usually after a bout of Leaner Legs!) and I have found that KPC starts out very nice and eases you into the workout. I really like that.

I sometimes will do a Tae Bo workout (the Cardio Circuit or Fat Blasting Cardio) or I'll do Rhythmic Step on a lower platform.

I would definitely investigate some of the premixes. I'm not sure what you have on hand, but the premixes on SJP/SB are really awesome. You might also want to invest in the Timesaver, which is designed for shorter workouts.

And of course, there is always CTX! Those cardio portions are generally about 30 minutes.

Good luck!!
Marie
