Good Morning:)

Wanted to get us started before I start my workout. I am working day shifts all weekend so I will be up early for the next couple of mornings. Sometimes I wonder if it isn't harder to get up early, then it is to work those dreadful night shifts?

Yesterday I did a 9 mile run. It was a good run but I got a little lazy towards the end. Today is suppose to be legs but Im doing BC + 5 mins run on the TM. Hopefully I will do legs tonight or tomorrow night. DH as a hockey party so I plan on getting legs in whenever he is gone.

I will bbl!
Lori:)

Hi Ladies!

I've switched gears yet again. This week I have been doing 30 minutes of cardio and then a different premix off of the kettlbell goddess dvd.

Lori ~ Sounds like a good workout!

Judy ~ I did like the NROL workouts. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Wendy ~ My Kettlebell Your Way DVD came and I previewed it the other night...it looks really good! I'm going to try it tomorrow.

Have a nice day ladies!

Morning Ladies -

This morning was WSFL - Week 3, Day 3. I did heavy supersets of Incline Chest Press/3-point DB Row - 3 sets and then started the metabolic circuits. Circuits were Abs on ball/Deadlift for 12 reps for 10 minutes and then DB Swing/Step Ups sets of 12 for 10 minutes. First circuit is always easier than the 2nd one. Cardio was 3 rounds of 120/120 with w/u and c/d stretch.

This cardio is harder for me than the shorter intervals. Got my HR up to 166. Used the Rebounder for the intervals and tried to run around the house for the recoveries...but DH was in the way! He was doing hanging ab work and using the big ball. I did some stepping on the higher step. Total workout with my own stretch was 61" and I burned 520 calories. Tunes were Papa Roach - Lovehatetragedy! I was rockin! and it helped get me thru that 2nd circuit.

I increased my weight and really concentrated on form. I'm gonna be needing a 35 lb set of DBs and 40 pound KB soon and don't have the money!

That guy at work that's into fitness is starting to diet for a competition he's going to be in. Maybe now that will help somewhat with him bringing cookies in!! He told me that I have an athletic build. I've never been called athletic before. He said my legs and glutes look really muscular! I guess with pants on, you can't see the layer of fat covering them!! LOL

WSFL Ladies - I wonder if Alwyn will come out with WSFL 2 and in that version have 3 sets of metabolic circuits in the workouts!! I was thinking about trying it for the heck of it....but I don't want to kill myself! LOL.

Have great workouts everyone.

ETA: Not sure how the phone interview went. Not sure if I want that sort of job at this point in my life any way. It's working for the Executive Director of a Drug Rehab. It's probably really stressful. What do you ladies think?

HI !

Tammy- My big question is why did you not continue with NROL? Did the KB tempt you too much?

Lora- Those metabolic circuits sound evil! That is nice that you got a compliment about your muscular build. :)

Lori- Are you doing Cathe's BC? I haven't done that in forever. Have fun with lower body....

Today is NROL4W 3A with the Body Weight Matrix. I am having a bit of a flareup of Plantar Fasciitis, so I will not add on a run today. The BWM will be enough impact for today.

DS is working with a trainer in his off season for hockey, and the trainer wants to do (big) hill intervals here in our neighborhood. I dread those hills something awful. I am not going to be the one to break the news to him. At least the trainer will run the hills with him.

Good Morning Girls.:)

I have SWAT Ultimate Body Definition on tap for today at nap time. I wanted to run too but forgot I have a race in the morning so I don't want to overdo it.

I will rest on Sunday in preparation for starting A/B stage 2 on Monday. I was looking at the work outs and they look good. They are set up differently from stage 1. I also will have to do 4 HIIT work outs instead of 3 and they will each be a bit longer then before. I will start off monday with the HIIT because it makes the most sense with my work schedule. I also plan to continue to sub in one KB work out each week. }(

Speaking of KB work outs, I just ordered Andre Ducane's Kettlebell Goddess DVD. It sounds good. I'm excited to get it.

I ate really well y'day in preparation for heading up to my mom's for dinner. I knew we would not be eating healthy. We went out for pizza and icecream. I had 2 slices of plain pizza and a small cup of vanilla icecream with sprinkles on it from Carvel. After all was said and done my fat was just under 30% and my cals were just below maintainence range so I was happy with that. In addition, I got up this morning and weighed, did BF and measured my waist just to see and was quite happy with the results. I feel very lean this morning despite last night's meal and the #'s reflected that. :)

BBIAB for personals.

Tammy** Sounds like you have had some interesting workouts this week!

Judy** I don't mind running hills as long as the wind isn't in my face at the same time! That drives me crazy! Yeah, BC is what I did. Its a good workout (in general) but when I combine it with the TM, I get a better cardio workout:)

Wendy** Good job at staying on track yesterday! Yesterdays dinner was high in sodium so Im gonna stay away from the scale for a couple of days:)

Lora** When will you hear back from the interview? Im hoping (for your sake) that they sweets will slow down now! LOL How as it been lately?

Todays workout went as planned and was a good sweat fest before work. Nice to have it out of the way!~

Lori:)

Hola, Chicas!

Lori, I've decided there's just no good time to workout. I'll admit it. I hate working out. Now, I LOVE how I feel when it's done, and that's why I do it...but doing it sucks, especially at five in the morning.

Tammy, you've jumped ship? That's okay, just keep checkin' in!

Lora, great workout! I don't know about three circuits. That's nuts. Although, I've seen some workouts with that Escalating Density Training written in 15 minute circuits instead of ten. I'm sure those are killer, too.

Judy, how's that body weight matrix? }( Evil, isn't it.

Wendy, good job keeping it in check when there was pizza involved! That's some pretty strong willpower. Congrats on the bf and measurements. I'm so glad you're a whole stage ahead of me in Afterburn so that you can warn me.

Today I did Workout A of Afterburn Stage One. I moved through it pretty fluidly this morning, and it still took me an hour. Not only that, but it wasn't one bit easier than Monday. I used the same amount of weight, and I thought I might die. That's an indicator of a great workout, right?

This weekend I'm dog sitting my mom's yellow lab. I'm staying at her house to do it though, because when I bring him to my house, my cats beat the livin' cr*p out of him. Seriously. They drew blood last time. If only I could train them to attack an intruder that way, I'd have no worries!!

What's up for everyone else?

BBS~

Jen

Jen** You hate working out? Really? I guess I would like nothing more then to sit around and eat while DS takes his naps, not gain weight and look like a million dollars...but that ain't gonna happen! Hell...I workout now and still don't look like a million;) There are somedays I don't want to workout but for the most part, I don't fight it.
Sounds like you had a tough workout today. Good job! Aren't you gald its over? hehe!

K...I really need to get some work done. Its almost lunch time and I really haven't done much. I might lose my raise if I don't smarten up;)
Lori:)

Lori, when that freakin' alarm is ringing at 4:30 a.m. so that I can get a workout (and coffee) in before I leave for work, and what I really want is another two hours of sleep, yep, I hate working out! But I do it, and it's all good. And like I said, I love how I feel when I'm done, so I'm never gonna stop. I've been doing it for so long that it's a habit now, almost an addiction. And yes, I want to be strong and active right into old age, so that keeps me going, too. But I have to concur with a very good friend of mine who likes to joke: "I hate working out...those weights...they're just so damn heavy!!" :p :+ :7

BBL~

Jen

OK workout is DONE! I tacked on 30 minutes of HIIT on the bike (5x 60/120 and 4x 60/60 ouch! HR 180 at peaks) then steady. What was I thinking? Actually I have to take Saturday and Sunday off so that is what got me to do it.

Jen- I laughed at your cat coment!

Wendy- 4 HIIT's per week is really going to help your running!

Good & Happy Friday morning,

Just finished my Stage 2A2 - I'm exhausted so took more breaktime that usual. Really had to push to get through it. Am hoping for a little energy later - maybe after I eat - so I can get in at least 30 min of cardio later.

Am off from work and also hoping to get moving to put a dent in my chores ! :7

Lori - hope BC was fun and you get your leggies in today. Keep working hard - don't want that raise to disappear after all you went through to get it!;-)

Tammy - your routine sounds like fun. Still keep thinking about the kettlebells - really need to see what is in the budget these days: fix up house vs more exercise goodies . . . such a tough decision !
}(

Lora - almost done with your 4 weeks - LOL about WSFL2 ! Those metabolic circuits sound very intense - way to get your HR up there for your cardio ! Will be waiting to hear how your fitness friend at work does. So cool the comments you are getting ! I know you do it for yourself, but when others notice it is icing on the cake!:7
Not sure what to say about the job possibility - personally I wouldn't want to add to my stress. Is there anyway to find out the stress level associated with the job? Would it be a good career move that you are looking for? Or just looking to switch employers (I remember you don't have great benefits currently).

Judy - hope the BWM doesn't stress your foot too much. Sounds very painful, what do you do to help it heal - anything you can do besides ice? Is DS playing league hockey? Glad you don't have to do the hills with him, but sounds like a challenge, huh?

Wendy - started adding the freebie SWAT workouts you posted the website for into my Fitness folder the other night. They look like fun little workouts for a change up here and there. Have fun with your ultimate body workout and good luck in your run tomorrow. Way to go with the food yesterday - I was not a good girl last nightx( Must definitely have a clean weekend.

Jen - good job getting your workout done more smoothly and I am with you on not adding any weight - was a struggle for me today. Have fun puppy sitting - we have an Aussie/border collie mix next door and we get to babysit when they go away. Our outside cat ends up retreating to the side yard where the dogs can't gain access. Takes about a week before she roams the yard freely after that - my dog leaves her alone (she doesn't even know she is supposed to chase cats:p .

Judy - super job on the peaks at 180 ! Not sure my heart would keep ticking at that rate. Way to go since you will have a rest weekend.

May BBL depending on my productivity ! Happy Friday if I don't make it back.

Off to do my weight work out! I hope I like this SWAT work out as much as I liked the circuit one!

I'll be back to post my work out review as well as personals when I'm done!:)

Hi Everyone!

Happy Friday! We have a busy weekend - bday and graduation parties to attend. Not too sure if I'll be able to check in. My workout today was Gauntlet with extra chest work, Fitness Fix Sports Conditioning Core and foam rolling.

I'm sorry I don't have time for personals. Wishing everyone a great Friday! :)

A friend in fitness,
Shirl

Hi Ya Girls!

I'm done with my work out: SWAT Ultimate Body Definition. The jury is still out on this one. I liked it. I'm just not sure how much. It's a good work out but the instructor seems to rush through the workout. He also talks so much that he loses count of reps and the timing seems to be off alot as well. He does slow reps of an exercise and then immediately follows it up with alternating faster reps and atleast in my case, I had to switch weights in order to do the faster reps so I had to keep pausing the work out to switch up since there is absolutely no time in between. Bottom line? Not completely thrilled but if I can find a good weight to use for each exercise so that I don't have to keep switching between the slow and fast reps I'll probably enjoy it more. I DID feel it though. No issue there! :)

Tammy: I caved and purchased the Godess DVD so we are even on the enabling front!;)

Lora: You were recently saying that you didn't really like WSFL and now you want Alwyn to come out with a WSFL2!?! LOL you sound as crazy as I am!;)

Judy: I will be keeping your DS in my prayers as he runs those hills with his trainer. ;) Glad to hear the HIIT 4x per week will help my running! I'm going to need to remind myself of that when I'm suffering through it! LOL

Lorie: Speaking of sodium...Lean Cuisines were on sale when I went food shopping y'day so I picked a few up. I try to stay away from that stuff but towards the end of the week my food stores get low so I am going to keep them on hand as back up. They are also good when you need a quick/easy meal as well!

Jen: You sure are dedicated for someone who hates to work out! I love it! Sure, I'm not always in the mood but all in all, I do enjoy it. If I didn't, I couldn't keep at it the way I do. I give you credit!!! Have fun dog sitting. LOL about the cats attacking the poor dog. They are probably being territorial. Cats reign over dogs most of the time anyway it seems. Funny but true.

Jacque: I have that swat site bookmarked. I printed out 3 of the work outs I like but there are so many that I won't print out any more until/unless I plan to do them. Did you see the card game one? That sounds BRUTAL!!!!}(

Shirl: Sounds like a busy but fun weekend on tap! No worries about personals. Do 'em when ya can! I'll be pretty busy myself this weekend. It will also be fun stuff, thankfully!:)

K, time to hit the showers!

BBL!

Hi Ladies,

Just got back from the beach! What a beautiful day! Just thought I'd share how my final WS workouts are going. Here this morning's workout:

Incline Chest Press
8/7/6 - 40's *I think one the hardest things is getting into position w/ those DBs LOL!
One Arm Row
8/8/8 - 47#

Circuit for 10 minutes in sets of six
Pushups with Jackknife *used perfect pushup handles**
Reverse Lunges using two purple bands doubled as resistance
Completed 7 rounds

Circuit for 10 minutes in sets of six
Squat & Press - 21's
Lat Pulldowns - used two purple bands wrapped several times around chin bar.
Completed 10 rounds.

then interval work of 120 high/ 120 recovery. Used Amy's A team bootcamp drills 1,2 & 4 and walk around for recovery.

Wendy ~ Kettlebell Goddess is not my favorite, but it does have some nice short premixes on it and a very good tutorial. The ab/core premix is excellent...I was feeling it the entire day :D

Judy ~ I have had my KettleBells for about a year now (my chiropractor recommended them) and although I dabbled with them, I just never committed to them. NOTHING I do is working right now, so I decided to try to shock my body by going back to short cardio sessions everyday and adding in the KBs as the whole KB dynamic is not something my body is used to....

Linda ~ Great workout!

Shirl ~ LOVE the Gauntlet..have a great weekend!

Jacque ~ I'll let you know how the KBs work out!

Jen ~ I'll keep checkin' in as long as Kettlebellers stays in the thread title :D

Lora ~ Keep up the good work...you must be doing something right!

Lori ~ It is nice to get up early and get the workout out of the way.

Have a good evening all!

Just wanted to say that I've gotten a second wind (if you will) for WSFL and I'm even thinking after I finish, I'll take a brief break and redo it again since my diet wasn't great the first go round. Yes, I'm nuts.

Re; the job - I have health coverage thru my DH right now and wouldn't really need them unless something happened to his job. Should I just worry about that if it ever happened? I don't really want to leave my current job. I don't want a "career job". I'm too old for that and don't want it at this point in my life.

RE: FOOD at work!! I only ate 2 small peppermint patties yesterday and a fruit salad today extra..........but I sat thru them eating french fries in front of me yesterday. That almost killed me, as I LOVE them but I don't touch fried foods.! They offered me them.......and offered....etc. Today - they ordered pizza and I only will eat pizza once in a while if it's lite on the cheese, with pineapple or veggie toppings and wheat crust. So - since I'm so picky....I told them just go ahead without me and had to sit and watch ( and smell) them eating pizza...which is like only my all time fave food. It was sheer torture. I ate salads for lunch both days.

Lora ~ Your work situation sounds like mine. My co-workers all eat like pigs...all day long...but then again, everyone I work with is overweight and they continually comment on how good I look as they are eating ice cream, or mac and cheese or..well you get the picture ;)

Lora - Okay I am going to respond to you in both thread. This one I'll talk about the food though. Today I empathize with you, after the beach I took the kids, my two and my neice & nephew, for ice cream and I sat there and watched all of them eat their ice cream and non for me! And I love ice cream!:9

Sunny - Those TT workouts, you mention something about them being from different months, does that mean they come from joining the website?
