all you folks in those humid states

I just did LowMax along with Leaner Legs and it is one of those rare humid days that we have. I was so worn out. How do you do it? Lots of air conditioning?

LOL, yep lots of A/C, water and the earlier you work out the better! ;) Congrats on making it through that challenging workout- AND in high humidity!! Hope you got to take a nice long and COOL shower! :p

Connie :D

Lots of air conditioning, and a huge glass of water, and a little fan on a chair that blows on me the whole time. And a lot of wiping my face on my T-shirt.

A/C, electric fan, lots and lots of water, lots of 10-second breaks to wipe off the sweat. Sometimes I have to splash water in my eyes when sweat gets in them.x(

i have a seperate ac unit in my workout room and can only be in there early or very late b/c it gets so hot. It doesn't help that every wall is windows either! i am seriously thinking about black out drapes in there:)

The A/C is definitely on, plus an electric fan and when my body asks for it I have sips of water (it could be every 15 mins or every 30 mins --you know when you need water because your saliva gets thick and your throat feels dry and if you ignore those signs you can get dizzy which is not a good thing--). Also, there are certain times of the day where the temperature is the highest and the humidity is also high, to avoid those times I either work out in the evenings or early in the morning.

Thank goodness for central A/C. The past few days in Central FLorida have been extremely humid. I almost melted this morning but I survived.

I'm in Georgia, which rivals Florida for the humidity title!

AC always, a floor fan and lots of water.

When I return from running outside, I look like I just stepped out of the shower. This morning for instance, it's only 64 degrees, but the humidity is so high that I am literally drenched with sweat from running!

JeanneMarie,

There is no way I am running in this humidity so my hat's off to you, young lady :7 . You're more dedicated than I am. I was thinking this morning as I was doing IMAX, drenched in sweat, I would probably have a heart attack x( if I was running outside.

You go girl!

There are places in our country with NO central AC? What a nightmare!:-( i would NEVER survive (unless it never got above 60 degrees:p ) now that i think about it, i went to a place in CO once durring the summer (it was a group of condos) and they had no AC. We all just about died. They were having record heat too! it was in the high 70's. their excuse was "it never gets this hot here" x(

It's perfecctly feasible to survive a Summer in temperatures up to 90 degrees with humidity and no a/c. We do it every Summer and I still work out in it. You adjust. You work out earlier in the day, sit with a fan on you, make excuses to go to the basement every 10 minutes, sleep with a fan on you, go to the lake to hang out whenever posssible, wear cotton and expose little skin to the sun.

It is do-able. I have neighbours who have already put their a/c on and we are only in the mid 70's here in Michigan. It is an excessive knee-jerk reaction and it never allows them to acclimatize to increasing heat at all. Not to mention it seriously and unneccessarily depletes resources and drives up the rent on all of our appartments.

Clare,

Ain't no way I'm living without central A/C. My allergies would kill me...especially with a fan blowing on me. The fan kicks up dust to which I'm allergic.

Look, I had my daughter without any anesthetic...but I'll be damned if I'm spending the rest of my life without A/C in Florida. Yesterday's high was 98 degrees.
x( :) :7 :+

Thanks for the accolades Candi. I do run as early in the morning as I can, that helps a little bit! :)

I'm with ya on the AC Candi! NO WAY can you live comfortably without AC in the kind of temps and humidity we get. 90 degrees would be okay, but it has gone over that many times here in the summer.

I remember one summer, years ago when I was in college. We were just poor students, and trying to find the cheapest place to live. We rented an apartment off campus for almost nothing, but the big catch was there was no AC. Let me tell you how hot it got in that apartment. The spatulas in my kitchen drawer MELTED! That's just too darn hot for me.

Lori, I live in Florida, too. It is humid but nothing beats New Orleans in the summer. It rains constantly too because it is so humid that it has to drizzle all day. No wonder the whole town is below sea level.

Hi Jeanmarie,

This has nothing to do with the humidity but I clicked on you workout room pics and WOW!

I would be working out all day with an awesome room like that! :) It is very pretty and I am envious.

Terri

I don't know with all this rain we've been getting here in central florida the last two days it has real cooled things down. It was so hot this past weekend it was hard to get the energy to do to much working out.

Agzo,

Yes. The past couple of days have been heaven. Well, maybe it rains in heaven, LOL! Monday was absolutely awful.

Candi
Are you able to go running here in florida during the summer? Its so hot, even early in the mornings and doesn't seem to even cool off enough at night to go then either. (november thur march are my running months) I have to cycle or swim through the summer, its just to hot.
