All Step Cross train Xpress VS Step Heat

Can anyone tell me if one is harder than the other?

I mean choreography-wise? I previewed some of All Step (came with my new step), but haven't tried it yet.

Was considering purchasing Step Heat, I heard it's probably the easiest Cathe step to try.

Just wondered if the All Step that I have would be considered "easy"? I have nothing to compare to.

thanks!

If you are new to Cathe and would consider yourself an Intermediate exerciser, Step heat is a good video to start with.

CTX All Step is a totally different video. It is Advanced, not Intermediate. You may not want to start out with it.

Step heat ups the intensity very gradually, All Step just leaps right in there. it is an excellent video.

As you progress, Step Heat loses interest and All Step offers more of a long term challenge. The music for All Step is so motivating, this is one of my favourite Cathe videos and it is just the perfect length to do right before a weight training session. Just enough cardio to make you feel exhilarated, not too much that you are too tired for weights work.

Thanks Clare

After today, I have decided I am a beginner!!!

I tried MIS (mind you, I have not been working out at all), and my Heart Rate was so high in the warmup, i couldn't believe it..

I have never used a HRM before, but I was shocked it was so high.

Well, you answered my question.. I think I'll not mess with the All Step for now. I'm sure it would be a little much for me until I get into the swing of things again.

thanks again :)Kathy

hi kathy:

Stick with MIS though. It's the first weight training video I used seriously and it is a great introduction. It helps you get to know your body, your weak areas, get to grips with correct form, and learn what sort of poundage you can safely handle. it will help you get a baseline of mucle strength and confidence for further lifting.

I reckon if you do MIS several times per week, and Step heat several times per week, you could be ready to move up through the Cathe video library within weeks!

I use Step Heat only in the first two weeks after a break from exercising, to help me get back my cardiovascular fitness. After 2 weeks of this, I never use it again until another 6 month break might come along! So, depending on your ability to increase your fitness evel, you may not stay with it for long. Then you are all ready to get the CTX series, Step Fit and Power Max and take it from there!

Kathy: even if you are a beginner, it is OK to start with MIS, you just use the weights that work for you, and this can be real low, i.e. I started biceps with 8 pound dumbells, and squats too, so, don't be afraid to go low to start with while you learn the moves, concentrate on form and your body gets used to the exercises. Cathe does tricep things with a 35 pound barbell, but just ignore her!!! Everyone says she's superhuman anyway!!!

Good luck

Clare
