Well that certainly doesn't bode well for my future. I have no kids so I guess when I hit my dotage I'll be bundled off to the old folks home posthaste.http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b39/Batgirl_1969/pleure.gif

I'd better join Tneah since I'm in the same boat!}(

I hope I didn't offend anyone or make anyone sad. It's just that boys were so highly valued in my family, and I was raised to feel bad about being a girl. This show, I think it was on PBS, really celebrated women. It was very heartwarming, and it made me appreciate myself and other women a bit more. That was the reason I posted this.

I've got two DDs.... hard to think about them taking care of me, instead of the other way around. How many of you are at the point where you're starting to hear more and more about your parents' ailments, etc.? I swear, my parents' schedules are starting to revolve around Dr's appointment.

My goodness, there was nothing offensive in your post at all Nancy! It's a fun thread. I have two nephews and a niece that I spoil at every opportunity. The little buggers had *better* be willing to take care of me when I'm old. If they squeak about it, I'll just remind them of the $2,467,999 dollars I've spent just this past year on ice cream and Pokeman cards.

:D

Thanks, Sparrow. I have a step-daughter-in-law who is a geriatric social worker with a heart of gold. I'm trying to make her like me, but I'm not going to stop doing my squats, etc.. :+

ETA: That ice cream really adds up, doesn't it?? ;)

Nancy!! I love it...things are looking good for me. I've got 3 daughters and am thrilled that at 18, 17 and 13 we have great relationships individually and collectively. This information warms my heart. I'll hedge my bets though and be sure to keep eating well and exercising :)

Thanks for sharing!

Hey, tneah, no reason not to start right now. :p :+

"I think all of us childless people will just have to go to the same nursing home....:)"

Let's start a commune!!! I have a few childless friends who have actually discussed this. At least we'll have each other!!!

>I think all of us childless people will just have to go to

I think about this quite a bit, having watched my Nana's life end horribly in a state run nursing home. Four words: long term care insurance! It's expensive but well worth it if you can have peace of mind knowing you won't end up in such a miserable place when you need help.

Yes, The Johnny Depp Home For Aged Childless Widows with Strong Thighs.

I'm hoping Christian Bale will be a board member.

I think too it's about how you raise your boys. I'm keeping this in mind (I have two boys and a child on the way). I'll have to start dropping hints like crazy and kissing up to their wives when they get older!! LOL
