Afterburn or Athletic Training?

Since I like To The Max so such, I've decided to get the discs and purchase either Afterburn of Athletic Training? Which one does everyone like better? What are the differences?

I like AT simply because it is hard but not as hard as AB. I love AB as well but most days I just can't workout at that intensity all the time. So I reach for AT so I can feel really worked yet successful as well. AB wares me out..its doable and fun it is harder lol

Different strokes, and all that . . . I think AT is MUCH harder than AB. The cardio at the beginning of AT is about the hardest thing I've ever done. IMO, Afterburn alternates between insanely hard and hard, so I get a little mental break.

But I love them both, and would highly recommend them. Maybe pick them both up with the XTRAIN pre-sale discount??? ;)

I'm with AuntNi on this one. Athletic training is so much harder. I still cant get through the first part without having to press the pause button.

Wow - I have to go back to Afterburn one of these days. I love Athletic Training - I find it really challenging, but so fun. I like all of the compound moves in this one. Maybe I'm just more mentally "afraid" of Afterburn. Hmmm.

I have both and love both. I got after burn first and have done the whole thing. I think you can make it easier or harder depending on how much you put into it; like I said I've made it the whole way through but the last time I guess I was working harder and didn't even make it half way. I just got athletic training more recently and have only done the 20 minute premix but WOW, tough stuff, felt great. At least with the premix, I don't feel I can make it easier or harder other than raising & lowering my step so I have yet to try the entire workout. They are different but I think complimentary, I say get both :)

I think AT is the easier of the two, but they are two totally different workouts, so it's hard to compare. Afterburn makes me feel like barfing, but the highs and lows are nicely dispersed. AT opening step sequence is deceivingly difficult. Your legs are on fire and feel like lead when you're done. For me, after that segment, the rest feels like cake...hard, sweaty, burny cake! I LOVE that workout!

Lol love your take on these! Burny cake and AB makes u want to barf! Very well said! And I totally agree! And u made me laugh... thanks Lol.

This is an interesting question. I think if you were to make a direct comparison of two of the LIS DVDs it would be easier to compare Afterburn to Cardio Supersets. They are both pure cardio (weights just used to increase cardio factor). Athletic Training has 25 minutes of cardio and then toning and core, some of which has a cardio factor. I find the first 25 mins. of AT to be torture but doable with a little cheating here and there. I just remind myself that it gets much easier if I get past the beginning. It is particularly hard on the quads with all of the repetitive moves on the step. Afterburn is tough but not totally crazy. It offers so many premixes that it is still worth getting even if doing the whole thing isn't an option right away. Do you own Cardio Supersets? That one is great because it is straight cardio, a little easier and shorter than Afterburn, and you can tack on the 20 minute step portion to make a full hour. You can't go wrong with either!

For me, it's whichever I did the last! When I finish Afterburn, I think to myself, "That's my favorite!" Then I'll do Athletic Step, and I think, "That's my favorite!" They are both excellent, low impact but high intensity workouts with zero boredom factor.

Both are hard for me, but I get more variation with AT. I get a great cardio/lower body premix or cardio/upperbody premix. Good luck
