Hi Cathe,
Three weeks ago I had emergency surgery for a ruptured spleen. It was out of the blue -no blow to the stomach. Doctor does not have an explanation for it. I asked her if she thought it was related to intense exercise and she said she didn't think so. Have you ever heard of this type of rupture occuring without a blow to that area? Anyway, My incision goes from the middle of my cleavage to the pelvic area - approx. 13 inches long. With doctor's o.k yesterday I rode a stationary bike for 20 minutes and did some bicep and tricep lifting with light dumbells. I do all of your strength and kick boxing workouts (The only step I do is Gilad as I am a step klutz.) Obviouisly I can't get back into your workouts this soon, but I'm wondering if you could recommend which strength exercises I can do that will not put stress on the abdominal area. Do you think that lunges and squats would put pressure on the abdomen. Doctor worries about a hernia. Also, do you think with this kind of surgery, I could do low-impact aerobics? I get so bored on the stationery bike. Not being able to workout with you has been so frustrating for me. But, I know I have to take it slow. By the way, I'm almost 50. Just thought I'd mention that in case, in your opinion, that may impact my recovery period.
Thanks Cathe - Thanks also for the new workouts you're planning. Can't wait!!
