Adventure trips

Coming off the Road Trip, I'm just curious to know what other "adventure" weekends/trips you've all taken, so I thought I'd start a thread.

Twice I've gone out to Colorado/New Mexico to herd cattle. Slept under the stars with no sleeping bag. No running water, no electricity. All food was cooked on a wood stove, which was pulled by chuckwagon (huge horses) and set up each night where we made camp.

Difficult, but a FABULOUS experience. Truly amazing. It was quite a culture shock in the beginning of the week, but after all the layers of modern life were peeled away, it was far more difficult to come home to fluorescent lights, traffic, noise, and the rest of "civilization." It took a while to put the layers back on. ;)

So ... I'd love to hear other's stories. :)

I would say an adventure in my life is Young Life summer camps. Going away from your family and spending a week with hundreds of highschoolers is an adventure of a different sort. My t-shirt says: Late nights, early mornings. You're too YOUNG to feel tired. You can't find your toothbrush. You've got a bad case of hat hair. You have no clean underwear. You forgot that your LIFE could be this good.

Second to that would be adventures in backpacking, mostly one yet future. We are planning a big one! We would love to hike from Tahoe to Yosemite and renew our marriage vows in the valley. My dream wedding, finally, even though we have been married nearly 20 years:)
