Adding toning exercises

I usually do a weight rotation w/ either gym machines or Cathe tapes 2xs a week (tough workout though).

I get tons of fitness magazines, which have many toning 'routines' of their own. I never do them, so I was wondering how can I add these exercises (that aren't in the videos) to my rotation? Should I just do an extra 'mini' toning day using these exercises once a week (they're not as tough as, say, MIS)? Or tack them onto my original workouts? I really want to add some tone to my thin arms.

Hi, I am not Cathe but I cut out routines from fitness magazines too. Sometimes I will tack on a few exercises from the magazines if it is the same body part I was working out - example - extra tricep work - definately extra abs. I also take these routines on the road with me when I travel - especially the quick ones that don't require any resistance.

Sometimes I will do a routine on a third day - especially if I am burned out from tapes.

Because you are only doing weight work 2x a week you could do one of these routines on a third non-consecutive day since it is perfectly fine to lift weights 3x a week - depending on your particular goals. Since you said these exercises aren't as tough as MIS, this 3rd day could be considered a light or medium weight day.

Good advice! I think I will make it a 3rd light/med weight day since I use heavier weights on my other 2 lifting days. I think I'll cut them out and make some sort of binder on a rainy day:)
